I just wanted to share this
Because my bad english there is maby something that you dont get but please try!
Paints what I have used are:
-Mechirite Red
-Vomit Brown
-White (or Skull White)
Idea is that Sword gets Whiter in to its end.
EDIT: Oh, and sorry for my bad picks They could be better... Nokias...

Mechirite red overbrush

Add VB stripes.

Then mix VB and little amount of White. Keep adding White and paint again.

Last paint you add is pure white to swords end and its ready!

Interesting method, if a little chunky, I'd definitely suggest thinning down your paints on a palette.

Photos aren't doing you any favors either, it doesn't look like you have the Macro function enabled and as a result the background is in focus but the model is not. Most cameras have that little flower function that will make it so your photos come out better for minis. Also having a flat background of a sheet of paper (near any color would do for this) will help the camera focus.

I think that lightning and making white box would help lot.
Also reason why they looks so chunky is beacause their previous owner or because they have been painted so many times...
I should strip em... I show picture where is one of my newer models Just a moment...

That looks much better in terms of the photo quality.

Don't worry too much about the photobox, just find a room with good ambient lighting and use a sheet of paper propped against something (I tend to use a cup ) and you should be able to get even better shots.
