After playing around with lizzies for a while, I've come to the conclusion that temple guard are overpriced saurus warriors, and little else. Yeah +1 str is nifty and all, and the ws is always beneficial, but it usually seems like a defensive buff over an offensive one. Now I'm obviously still keeping the slann, but I'm getting sick of spamming life or light, though I do have a preference towards light. I thought of doing something a little different. The essentials of it are taking a unit of saurus, and pumping the front rank with scar vets. Get off a couple of the augment spells in beasts and watch them go to blenders of death. Thoughts?

Saurus warriors only save you 5 points a model. Temple guard have +1 WS, S, and Init, along with the option for a magic banner.
So every 18 temple guard you swap, you get 1 Saurus hero with light armor and shield.
IMO, it's a flawed plan, because the base cost of the hero is too high.
The beast lore seems to work best with:
1) Super-lord who can dish out ungodly amounts of damage (red fury, vampire lord with frost blade; minotaur lord)
2) Spammed cheap heroes (Wight Kings, Empire captains, paladins)
If the heroes are too expensive, you can't get enough of them for the stat-bonuses to pay off. It's a good thing that gobins and skaven don't get lore of beast.

I think beasts is ok for Lizzies but in all honesty you really need to build a list around lore of beasts

Yeah, you have to build the list for the lore; which is why it's not toally out of hand when the wizard hat goes bestial.
It just seems like a waste to me; Saurus heroes can already show up with T5 S6(halberd) and 4 attacks, buffing them is good; but not awesome. Even with ~3 heroes in a unit that all get the +3S/+3A, that's what? 5 extra wounds? Not really all that impressive for such a huge combo. I'd bet you get more out of giving the unit of saurus +1S than buffer a handful of heroes.

It is about 8 or so more wounds than lighted TG, but I think the real strength will show when you have the buss of saurus behind it, which combined with all the choppy may actually get rid of steadfast and -break- a unit for once. The amount of attacks coming in on your saurus is negligible, and with pan's coat your characters most likely aren't dying real fast at all.
Besides, if we want spamable, cheap hero choices this could easily be adopted to skink chiefs with AHW and a skink buss behind them.
Actually that might work better...
Edit: Well, TG with light do about 10 wounds on t4 before saves, saurus with beasts do about 17-18 with beasts, and skinks with mixed krox's do 23-24.... Hrrm.
