Dunno. I always buy new stuff...

At my LGS they sell them for 2-5(AUD) something like thousand sons are 5 while guardsmen are generally 2-3.
I go there sometimes but being the lazy man i am, stripping the models usually takes a month and i'll only buy them if they're not covered in glue and paint as that's been coated so it has the texture of bread

I prefer to buy new from GW.

Occasionally I've bought a few models off eBay but will not pay more than 50% of retail (including P&P). And I really don't like buying painted minis, assembled maybe. But they'll have to be a virtual give-away for me to buy painted.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

I, personally have never bought pre-made minis but if I did, it would depend on the quality. Well made = 25% of GW price. Badly made models I wouldn't buy at all

half my army is from Ebay and the other half is new. I repaint stuff to my color scheme.

I am in this game to play more then model/paint to the best of my abilities. I make sure they look decent and tabletop quality but I only spend a good amount of time on characters ;D.

so if my troops look a little bad/thick on paint I could care less! LIVE TO WIN!!!!

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.

For pre-assembled minis? I'd pay maybe up to half price (if it was a good build). I have very specific desires for my army loadout though, and if I have to do any kind of work to it, then a quarter of the box price becomes my max.

Although I generally paint my own minis because I'm picky about what my armies look like, I recently got six well painted squads of IG for only $20 each because it would take me to long to paint them myself. Also it was cheaper to get them painted for some reason.

You know, there's a lot of reputable retailers who sell at a discount that aren't eBay sellers or shady operations working out of Hong Kong...

I've bought the majority of my stuff from flea markets and eBay. I generally look for 35% off for poorly assembled/damaged stuff, 40-50% for painted if my plan is just to strip it. I get GW stuff for 20% off at my FLGS so if I can't save more money than that I'd rather just support my store.

Most of the regular stuff I get is off e-bay. I generally only buy unpainted (and preferably unbuilt) models. I have bought a few that are painted but only if they're metal and I can strip them down. With one exception, I got a Karandras really dirt cheap (it was a rubbish photo which tends to put people off bidding) which, when it arrived was really nicely painted so I've left him as he was. I do like to paint stuff myself - I feel this 'makes it mine' if you know what I mean. You do take your chances with e-bay stuff but most of the time you can tell what you're getting. Had my fingers burnt a couple of times though - particularly with plastic kits like tanks which have been built really poorly. There's an awful lot of allegedly 'pro-painted' models which to be honest appear to be anything but, although I have seen some really nice minis for sale (the genuinely good ones usually have a high start price). E-bay works for me, as far as cost goes if I can get it about 10-20% cheaper that I can buy new (that includes non GW websites like Amazon/Total Wargamer etc who discount stuff) I'll get it. It may take me a little longer to source stuff like this, but I usually get there eventually. There is of course also all the drama and excitement of winning stuff with a last minute bid!

I won't even play with something that another man painted, to be honest. I'd rather play with a grey miniature or primed than that.

I would say anywhere from 30-50% off depending on how the model is put together and if its got any paint on it then its a whole nother ball game!
