The Philadelphia Eagles now have Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel and Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie at Cornerback....

I think that Philadelphia fans will STILL boo the Eagles, even if theyre winning.

This can be seen as further proof that my team, the Raiders, will not win another Superbowl until Al Davis is dead of whichever type of cancer decides to show up (im sure that he is like Mr Burns from the Simpsons, and has all of them)

Hey.... We "boo" because we care.
And like Mr Burns, Big Al will probably stay alive much longer than even his doctors think is possible.

It seems that the Eagles are putting a lot of chips on the table this year. In two or three years this team will be in Salary Cap hell trying to keep the team together. DeSean Jackson hasn't been extended yet, neither has Vick, or Maclin. They're probably going to lose one of those two wideouts.

Of all the moves they made, the Babin signing made zero sense. He's never been consistent, he got a lot of garbage sacks last year and he's going to a defensive scheme that will be run by an O-Line coach. Granted the D-Line coach will be the same from last year (from Tennessee). We'll see about this team.

Certainly it's been a big offseason for them. However, another team in their division has had quite a few big offseasons for many years that have resulted in very little (lookin' at you, 'Skins). The Eagles still have major question marks at LB and on the o-line, not to mention their new DC. Even if Castillo makes a wonderful transition from coaching the o-line to calling the defense, I can't imagine how won't be overmatched against the better OCs. Still, the team will probably go as Vick goes.

Eagles fans have a right to be excited, it's just that the offseason winners are rarely the SB winners.

Seriously, The Young signing is ... bothersome. He has consistancy issues, much like McNabb, he has days when he cannot hit the ocean from the beach.
Castillo has the chops to run D, plus he knows how O-line coaches think. Less worried about the D than the O-line in Philly. Plus he has a plan for using all three Corners.
Hopefully, Danny Watkins pans out and is better at protecting Vick's blind side.

News from Camp is ...interesting.... Lots of work still to be done though, always is with major coaching changes. I think things will work out well.

Feel bad for Sam Bradford... he gets to face the new defense on Sept 11.

Why would he? There's a huge difference from coaching o-line techniques and making line adjustments to calling defensive signals and changing defensive strategies during games. It's why this move is basically unprecedented in the modern NFL. I'm sure he's a bright guy and can do a decent job. And don't get me wrong -- the new DBs should be a big boost with their pass defense, which was pretty poor last year. But NFL games are often a match between coordinators, and personally I want the guy who's done it before.

I'd love for the Steelers to acquire Samuel. He'd probably be a better fit in their zone scheme, and the Steelers badly need DBs with ball skills. But I'm sure the Eagles' asking price will be high, and they tend to get their asking price. They robbed the Cards in the Kolb trade, IMO.

Castillo is a whole game type of guy. Yeah, the o-line had issues the last couple seasons but most of that was due to injuries and not bad planning. He can, according to Reid, draw up plays on the fly for either side of the ball, meaning he will have planned for most of the counters.

As for Samuel.... I believe the current plan is to run DRC as a corner/safety. Play him in the slot with maybe a single safety behind the three corners.... all just conjecture at the moment though, but I think Philly keeps Samual for now.

And yeah.. you are not the only one that thinks the Cards got flat-out mugged on the Kolb deal..... but with the "top" QBs signing elsewhere they were really under the gun.

We are talking about the Cleveland Browns NFL team here... right? the same team that finished 5-11 last year? The only team to score LESS than Cleveland last year was Carolina.
And yes I know the difference between "in the bag" and "bagging (something)".

Diligently behind a rifle...

We'll see how they do. If they're going to a run a cover 2-esque mid zone with their corners, then grabbing Asomugha was one of the worst personnel moves for that, he's much better in bump & run and man coverage, something DRC or Samuel have NEVER been good at. Samuel is a classic gambling corner who gets burned quite frequently and is pretty poor at run defense (i.e, if he gets his bell rung by a RB, he stops being aggressive in run defense). DRC isn't terribly physical and gets bullied off the line by bigger receivers, with him moving to a hybrid safety position, he'll be matched up with either slot receivers, who run lots of crossing routes and get lost in coverage or Tight Ends, who are at a massive Size advantage over DRC. I don't care how good a CB is, they can't cover a receiver for more than about 5 seconds before the lose the guy. They'll be far from impregnable on defense. Their D-Line really doesn't have any dominant DT's to push the pocket (we'll see if Jenkins can be a DT instead of a 3-4 DE), Trent Cole is a decent pass rusher that winds up taking himself out of plays by bullrushing right at more physical tackles or runs so far up the field and leaves lots of gaps for RB's to squirt through.

I suspect that they'll be better on Defense, but far from dominant.

It appears I misentrepreted your post, sorry!

It wasn't really to be taken seriously, but those 5 victories were against teams everyone thought would smash them. New Orleans I think it was, that really made me laugh.

And I'm still rooting for my Browns.

I think that the day the Browns win the superbowl, is the same day that Lebron will go back to the cavaliers.... basically aint gonna happen.

It's the same thing with my Raiders.. we know they wont win until Al Davis is gone, and now he's signing ALL the talent away!

Looks like the Eagles are not out of the woods defensively just yet.... Especially at tackle. Mike Patterson(AVM), Trevor Laws (hip flexor), Victor Abiamiri (torn Achilles tendon), and now Antonio Dixon(mild knee sprain). News has it that Abiamiri just straight up left camp as well, along with Ricky Sapp.

But there are some DTs left in free agency so hope is not lost... just need time and hard work to get them working as a team.

Al Davis is gonna probably outlive all of us. The Browns have a chance at the playoffs.... of course they'd still have to get past Pittsburgh and Baltimore.
