Subject: Unit with character suffers excess wounds
I´ve tried searching for this question but i couldn´t find it so here it goes.
A unit containing a character with 5 RnF models (For a total of six models) suffers 10 wounds from my WE glade guards.
Are the excess wounds transferred to the character or are they simply lost?

The rulebook states page 48 that models must divide their attacks before rolling to hit and in that case their would be no ambiguity. It's a pain but makes it simpler.
If shooting: impossible to wound a character with normal shooting if the unit contains at least 5 RnF models.
If close combat: attacks must specifically be targetted against the character. Impossible to wound the unit, of ANY size, and for that to spill over to a character

I meant shooting ofcourse, I know how it works in close combat
When we played we did as nosferatu said.
But if feels so weird that a character outlives his unit which could have killed the entire unit two times over.

It's pretty rare to come up that the shooting is that effective.
I guess the character hides under the pile of bodies and pops up at the very last minute; just in time to take a panic test.

I like the visual image this gives. A hero of the land hiding under a pile of bodies just to pop up, scream "Home Alone" like and make a mad dash for the board edge! Priceless!
The plan wasn't flawed it was the people carrying out the plan!!!
