Guts from Berserk as a Space Marine. Renegade probably, but not chaos-worshiping.

Statline: WS7, BS5, S4(10), T5, Wn4, I4, A5, Ld10, Sv3+
Rules: Feel No Pain, Fearless, Eternal Warrior
Equipment: Dragon Slayer, Berserk Power Armor, Storm Bolter, The Hand Cannon

Berserk Power Armor: Adds +2 to strength. At the start of the player's turn, roll an unmodified leadership test. Upon passing, Guts moves as normal. Upon failing, Guts gains Rage and Fleet. Grants Feel No Pain. 3+ armor save.

Dragon Slayer: Two-handed, master-crafted power weapon. Doubles strength in close combat. Grants Preferred Enemy (Daemons).

The Hand Cannon: R12", S9, AP2, Assault 1, One Use Only

Just a mental exercise. Enjoy.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Is there such a thing as Hatred in 40k?

What you're looking for is probably Preferred Enemy.

Hatred is in fantasy I believe. Preferred enemy is the 40k equivalent.

Fixed. I keep thinking PReferred Enemy is from DnD, and Hatred is from 40k (given that Hatred (Everyone) used to be what Holy Hatred was for Celestians).

Even more confusing because Dark Heresy(and probably Deathwatch, Rogue Trader, and Black Crusade) use Hatred, too.

Pondering this:

The Hand Cannon: R12", S9, AP2, Assault 1, One Use Only
Monstrous Creatures hit by The Hand Cannon strike at initiative one until the next game turn.

Representing Guts' typical ending move (blast them with the cannon and then chop them in half / their heads off / etc with his sword).

Gattsu also has a mechanical repeating crossbow that he uses to pretty good effect.

Actions define a person.

I'd give him W3 and I3. There has to be some drawback to that statline unless he's 275 pts.

Lack of invulnerable save, normal save is only 3+, chance he'll go into Rage each turn. (albeit small).

Compare to Kharn. Guts at effectively +1 Str vs vehicles and will ID anything T5 or lower, FNP, +1W, +1T and EW so lack of invul doesn't matter nearly so much (power weapons have trouble wounding, can't be insta-deathed by hidden fists).

Needs grenades.

I also am unsure if he's 275 points worth, keep in mind he doesn't have an invulnerable save with this setup.

Though, I think he should be able to upgrade to the Beserker Armor, for maybe 20-30 points, where he gains an invulnerable save of 4+, but also gains a -2 penalty to his rage leadership test. (Beserker armor is a magicked set of armor that greatly, greatly enhances his fighting ability, at the cost of causing him to, well, go into a "beserker rage" where he can't distinguish from friend and foe.)

Hmm. I might also suggest moving the Feel no Pain to the Beserker Armor upgrade, as well. In his Black Swordsman armor, he was always able to shrug off some wounds by force of will. In the Beserker Armor, the armor literally reinforced his bones, dulled his sense of pain, and let him keep fighting when he couldn't anymore.

[Edit] Oh! And if he fails his Beserk leadership check when in the Beserker Armor, give him The Betrayer rule from Kharn as well! (Or, hmm, looking at an older Codex. Does Kharn still have this rule?)
