Hey I was thinking about giving a character in my army the wizard hat, but who should I give it to? Or would it be a waste for ogres? I think I may end up making a guy wear a green stuff wizard hat just for kicks but is this a good idea?

There seems to be a fire wizard in the new Ogre army book, so maybe wait a month.

Hmmm, looks like he may be the first SC that I use in fantasy, but on a limited basis. Thanks for the info.

The Wizarding hat isn't what I'd ever call a competitive choice. It's great for limited lore armies like skaven or orcs and goblins (who coincidentally get cheap lords capable of affording the thing...), but it really shouldn't ever be relied on.

That said, I built a 2,500 point skaven force around one and have enjoyed every game I've used them in. Sometimes it's only okay (Lore of Light: Timewarp + the MM against empire is somewhat *yawn*), other times it's hilarious (Lore of Heavens: Comet + Thunderbolt against HEs). I would definitely give it a shot in a game or two, especially if it's just a beer and pretzels game played with friends.

As for modeling, you obviously don't have to do an actual pointy wizard hat. Mine is a metal skull cap with all sorts of wires and warp-steam-pumps. (Or at least, it will be... at some point... I swear!)

I think it would be hilarious to model a pointy wizard hat on model, even if I just use it as a butcher (I would put it on the guy with "kiss the cook" written on his apron). I mostly would use the item to goof around with anyway, who would really expect to see an ogre army using non-gutmagic?

It has to be large, floppy, tastelessly decorated and have the word 'wizzard' written on it!

I'd put more like wizerd but that's just me. Once I get it done I'll have to put up some pics, it will take a while though since I'm going on vacation for most of august.

Also you could model it to look like a dunce cap too, with a bit of wood that says wizzerd.

Why not make it a hat like this then:
