I'm getting into playing Firestorm Armada now I've given GW my last $$$$ and am really enjoying it. I'm looking at getting some sort of table with a star theme on it and have been looking at a Hotz Mat ( www.hotzmats.com).
Does anyone on Dakka own one and can describe it to me. Is it a thick mat, or bed sheet thickness? Is it felt? Is it worth the money?
Anyone................ ?????????????

A bit of everything really....... Titanicus, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Black Seas, Blood Red Skies, Kingdom Death, Relic Knights, DUST Tactics, Zombicide the lit goes on............. |

I own one of their mats for playing Memoir 44 using miniatures (yes, I know Memoir 44 has miniature tanks and soldiers) on a larger scale.
It's a sturdy mat made of felt. Comes in a nice shipping box that I use to store it.
Very worth the money IMO.
Only thing to be aware of is it takes several weeks to get your order. You'll get it by and by, just takes some time.

I really love there 2d craters seems like a good deal 22 for 20 bucks if i read correct. But anyway i have not bought any of there products but have purchased the realm of battle mat not the the table from games workshop 6x4 fold out standard green with some earth friendly colours like tan and brown spray painted over it lightly it makes a very good deal and a attractive field/plain look instead of bright green with shiny brown details. The spray paint didnt make the mat stiff or unable to fold although i dont fold it to try and get rid of some of the folding marks they already put on it from packing it . As for a star theme board the reverse side is black i imagine it could take a coat or two of spay as well white dots for star clusters ,blues/red for novas and crazy spacy gases maybe worth a try

Hotz mats is what I now use as standard for games, just ordered a second batch of 3 different ones. So I can really recommend them.
They are felt, so thicker than a bedsheet but still rollable and foldable. Peeling is limited with the new formula.
Hotz just needs a bit of time as each mat is handmade.

I have one, and we use them at our club. Well made and durable, and as for thickness, somewhere between a sheet and a blanket.

Handmade is a big tick in "gotta get me one of those".
Come up with a design, and they'll have a good look at getting it to you.
If you can't make it yourself, go to a pro. All reports I've seen on Dakka have been very favorable.
