why you askin? Huh, Huh!?

I want my force to be 50 boyz, 20 nobz, 20 lootas, 10 stormboyz, 4 looted rhinos, 15 killa kans, a warboss, big mek with kff and mega nobz. But I cannot decide how many meganobz to have, so whats best 10 or 5?

I am afraid your list isn't legal. You can have a max of 9 Kans, 3 per squadron of 3. Which uses up your Heavy slots leaving no room for Looted Tanks (I assume that's what you meant when you said Rhinos). Unless this is for Apoc I suppose.

Either way, IMO the best way to use Meganobs is 3 in a trukk, then point them at something. MANZ needs transport, so 5 is a waste to stick in a BW, and 10 is overkill. Too many PKs, you'd be better off getting diversified nobz at that pointage.

Ok, so 3 or 5 is best way to go, and about the kanz, this is the START of my overall list so apoc included.
What about deff dreads, how many wounds and attacks do they have and what do they bring to the party?

It's against the forum rules to answer this. You really should get a codex and a rulebook first. Deff dreads are vehicles and will pretty much obliterate about anything they charge in close combat, but they are weak to shooting.

As for your original question: 3 meganobz in a trukk work great as missle-style unit, five or more should go in a battlewagon.

An advice for your proposed list, start small, don't buy 4k points worth of orks on your first day. Get a Black Reach box(it even contains a rulebook), the KFF mek and one or two boxes of killa kanz and go from there. You'll find out what's best for your army soon.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

ok, Its because me and my little cousin will be playing 40k together. We both want to get the AOBR set for our BD's and then we swap (i get the orks), but I want some more units to Spice it up.

I hate to break it to you, but meganobz are about $20.00 EACH. (very approx 10 quid) . You'd need a ton of spare cash to collect a big unit.
They are metal single-model blisters that weigh a ton

I've been wanting plastic meganobz of appropriate size for ages. The current ones are smaller than a current unarmoured Nob, because orks got a size-up on models after they were released.

You could convert some up from plastic SM terminators..

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

I have seen this conversion done dozens of times, and only once was it done where it didn't look like complete and utter garbage. For a newbie modeler, I guarantee it will look awful and just be a waste of both Terminators and Ork bits.

Thank god your not a musclebound fool like the REAL duke nukem. You might be musclebound but your not a fool SRM.

And are meganobz REALLY that small?

Possibly, but better for friendly, beginner gaming (presumably they ar enot starting out with high-end tournament play with high modellig/painting standards) than popping 200 bucks on a unit of meganobz.

Proxying would work just as well.

I've seen it done ,and done well, by someone who only had the AOBR box and had been playing for about a month. Without knowing the OP's modelling skill/talent we can't guarantee anything I said he could do it, not that it would automatically be awesome

Black Orks from the fantasy range would also make a decent basis to work from, if you have cash handy, but you'd need to have some good modelling skills and a bag o bitz to make them look good.

i think that giving them S&P makes them worthless without a transport, especially ghaz,so if you call his waaagh and dont get the difficult terrain, waste of the waaagh!

I lol'd

You can do what I'm doing and wait for the Finecast versions to come out. I'm praying there'll be a price drop then (haha). Don't worry you'll have ALOT of orks to build and paint up in the meantime, so no big rush. Or alternatively you could hit ebay, MANZ aren't as popular an ork unit so you may get lucky and hit some on the cheap.

I think for now I'll make a ard boyz unit from a box of black orcs.
Any opinions on how effective ard boyz are?

Or grab some nobs and give them the mega-armor via greenstuff. Depending on your level of skill, it could work yes?

Plasticard preferably for that box look, but I really like the look of converted black orcs as well, and the rules for mega nobz are making them less appealing by the minute.

But I will definitely by a couple meganobz when they get transferred to plastic

I'd argue that converted terminators can look good. but it does take some work to do well. some plastic card over the boots, some bits from the ork nobz box, chop the arms and add arms from the nobz box claws and kombi weapons.

file off the space marines icons and add orky bitz from various bozes like the nobz shoulder pads, though you have to dip them in hot water to make them maliable enough to make them adjust to a new curve.

but also add some battle dmg (i like to just stab the terminator with a soldering iron and then a pit o plasticard over the area not covering it all to show it is looted terminator armor... takes some time and effort to get it right and you can't just do what seom people do and cut the head off the terminator and just glue a ork head on and call it good but it isn't that difficult to make it work

I'm gonna go with the black orc ard boyz now, I've seen excellent results come from them.

Black Orc 'ard boyz do look very cool. You'll just need to mix in some 40k Ork bits so they don't look like they're just straight out of fantasy.
