Ok, first off, I appologize for some of the delay on getting this information out there. Our group was assisting Reecius, sorting some internal drama, and ironing out some arrangements with our hosts. Plus, I have been sick off and on the last month. All the GT traveling will do that to you...

All that behind me, I now have some information for what is left on our calendar this year.

First, we are hosting the last round in our Fantasy Team Tournament circut at GMI Games in Riverside, CA on August 20th. The highest aggragate scorers from all the team events will be given free admission to the SoCal Slaughter 5. The rules for this RTT can be downloaded here.

Second, SoCal Slaughter 5-
This is at Strategicon, held Labor Day Weekend at the Sheraton Gateway near LAX, and is a Fantasy GT two day event. The rules packet can be downloaded from our site and it has all of the relavent information and scenarios within it. You can sign up for this event at www.socalslaughter.com via our paypal button.

For 40k players, not taking part in the Smackdown in Anaheim, there will also be two side events at this convention. Saturday will have a Team Tournament (1000 per player) and Sunday will have a three game RTT (1850 per player) that will be run by Scott. He should have the rules packets up and ready by weeks end (I will amend this post when they are set to go). Note these side events are free to play for anyone with a valid convention badge and are first come first serve.

Finally, we have the Slaughter on the Strip 2
This will be a full weekend 40k GT event to be held on November 5th and 6th at the NeonCon gaming convention at the Tropicana Hotel in Los Vegas. Scott will have the rules packet up in the very near future, but we are going to use this as a litmus test to use a system similar to what the Bay Area Open had in place (strict Win Loss, Limited Soft Scores, Book Missions, possible six rounds) and if the response is strong, we will likely make the Slaughter in Space operate under the same system. As soon as the packet is ready, I will link it here. Registration details will be determined by weeks end and posted on www.slaughteronthestrip.com once all the details are ironed out between the Neoncon Staff and our group.

Any questions can be directed to me, via PM or email (phazael.scgwl@gmail.com) or Scott (scott.tiveron@gmail.com).

Any info on the Smackdown?
I keep seeing there is a tournament, but can find no info.

The team tournament sounds like fun...
...Just would like to have all the info.

What do they mean by Rogue Trader Tournament? Does it utilize classic rules or something? Or is it like a name for some hardcore stuff?

@djphranq
RTT, or Rogue Trader Tournament is an old school term used to describe a one day, 3 round tournament. It is how GW used to run them.

An Ironman typically refers to a one day, 4 round tournament.

A GT, or Grand Tournament, usually refers to a two day, 5-8 game event.

@Q
All of the SCGWL's help was incredible. The event wouldn't have even happened without you guys. You know we will be at your 40K events, I have not missed one yet. I think most if not all of the Zero Comp team will be going to NeonCon. Vegas!

And we are flattered that you liked our system enough to try it out for yourselves. We are happy to assist in any way as you and the SCGWL crew really came through for us.

Looking forward to these events. Every year they have been one of the highlights of the tournament circuit on the west coast.

Looking forward to Neoncon....
...I missed out last year, but the wife has given her tentative approval for me to attend this year.

Plus it is in Vegas!

I cannot offer any information on the Smackdown because I have no involvement in it this year. Henry and Adam (of Brookhurst Hobbies and Bolter and Chainsword League) are the organizers of that convetion. Their website was Socalsmackdown.com, but I am not sure if that is still the case this year.

As for the side events at Strategicon, Saturday will be a three round team tournament. Prizes will be some dealer dollars and medals, but its free to play in if your at the con. Sunday is the same thing, but a standard 1850 (what I now privately refer to as the YakFace Format) three round tourney. The rooms will have open gaming most of friday night and possibly Saturday, if the interest is strong enough. We should be set up by 3pm Friday afternoon.

Neoncon will have far more limited open gaming, because we are on a tighter schedule and want to do some of our own binge drinking while in Vegas. We waited to announce it until now because we had some details to hammer out with Mike Shields about the logistics of the event, since they are moving us to a bigger room near the dealers. They want more foot traffic near the miniatures to draw people in and the dealers want us nearby since 40k players tend to have the most disposable income. This means we want you guys to have nice looking armies and to keep the pucblic deffication to a bare minimum!

Neoncon for sure, what will the points level be or is that still being determined? (I need to know what to get painted, lol)

Neoncon will be 2k in all likelyhood. In fact, after I post this I am going to Scott's to work on the rules packet!

Ok, Scott has finalized the Neoncon packet. Its going to be six games with a format very similar to The Bay Area Open. The points are set at 1850 with awards for Best General (the top award), Best Painted, Best Sportsman, and Players Choice. You can get all of the information from www.slaughteronthestrip.com, including the rules packets and so forth. Not sure when the Neoncon guys will have the website up and running, but letting Scott know you are comming should be enough to reserve a spot until we iron out those details with Mike Shields. Scott's email is Scott.tiveron@gmail.com, should you have any questions.

Phazael, that looks suspiciously like 2 hour rounds (or else there's zero time between rounds?). True?

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

I should be there and I hope that I do no oversleep again on day #2.

It looks like 2:15 rounds with 15 minutes for turn around time.

Here is the link for everyone: http://www.slaughteronthestrip.com/

You beat me to it.

Hmm, might have to try the Daemons, I am not sure how well the Deathwing will scale to 2K.
Packet looks great, I for one love the fact you are going with book missions!

It does say 1850, I just can not read.
(Actually, that is what happens when you have two different tournament packets open on your desk...
...if you are an idiot, you read the wrong one.)

I will make an attempt to make it, but the likelyhood of that happening is poor. I was there last year with my CSM, the one with the two DP's with giant beautiful wings, I called them Mary Kate and Ashley...

Stuff sounds like it could be fun.... but we'll probably need painted armies huh?

Because there is no overall for painting to affect, a three color standard will be enforced. Seriously, if you can't manage to basecoat, do two detail colors, and glue some flock to youir bases, then you are not showing your opponents adequate respect for their hobby efforts.

I'd have to agree. It kind of make me think think "Really?" when I see a non-painted army up against a beautifully painted one in a tournament.

Looking forward to Neoncon. I missed it the first year and I have been itching to go to a tourney that can sate my need for gaming and gambling.

Three colors is easy. I got an ENTIRE wood elf army to 3 color standard in 1 night before Adepticon. Prime, ink, dry brush, done. Looks fine for 3 colors and easily painted over with no loss of detail if you want to make it nicer, later.

I'm all for painting stuff I was just curious because my army is still in the progress of being painted... but maybe I can give it the 'three color standard' treatment just to get it playable and then 'clean' it up later.

Thats what a lot of people do at these types of events. Get your basecoat on and get some of the detail basecoating done and you should hit three coats with no effort.

Sept. is going to be a pretty busy month for me. But I'll see if I can squeeze this event in there some how.
