Hi guys. Just signed in after being a short term voyeur, so to speak.
I am interested in the Warhammer 40K universe mostly, old school crossbows and stuff just isn't my thing. I'm a long time warhammer 40K player online or in virtual/computer game form, though I haven't owned or played a game with miniatures for years.
Anyway, this seems as good a place as any. I am interested in writing my own novel, just for the fun of it, set in the warhammer 40K universe, which is bound to be a lot of fun due to the highly detailed and heavily fleshed universe that has been provided already by GW and its creators who have, to my mind, staggering imaginations.
My real question is then, is how best to obtain and find the detailed information I need to help write my novel? I mean is there any real reference guides about (codex etc) that I can buy online and use, something that gives detailed lists and info about the various planets, races, factions and armies etc in the 40K universe, along with their weapons and equipment, doctrine etc, so I can flesh my novel out and make it authentic to the reader?? Or am I just better off obtaining the 40K rule books etc and using those?

I used to play 40K and Necromunda a lot. I am also a big fan of epic but have never owned a single piece of Epic stuff. I would happily spend a bit of cash to acquire a full and complete ready to play set with two good armies in it, but I don't have the time or patience to go starting from scratch as I am not a modeller or painted TBH.
