Really want to take the 9 Russes. I really was hoping with this list to get some tactical help. If someone brings a certain list how should i compensate. What would you leave in reserve, would you stack all on one side of table? How would you play this list is my question.

Damn, that list actually looks pretty scary.

Meltavets are actually cheaper than plasmavets. The points are wrong there.

Why no chimera for your CCS?

You do know the drawbacks outweigh the benefits for the Russ in units of three? Two can do smoke tricks and cover tricks, but three is just unwieldy. No Plascutioners? Huh.

For what the list is, it could work. Just depends on the meta, I guess.

Please drop Marbo for a Chimera for the CCS, though.

need marbo for elite slot, had good luck with him, plan on really just keeping him in reserve or walking him on my side of table, no crazy suicide stuff. the points for plsma i miss wrote but on my excel spreadsheet i have the points correct. i really depending on opponent use the a chimera for command squad, and probably have one of the plasmavets sitting on a home objective

All over

I know alot of people hate on Marbo but my frien uses him and he rocks!!! He is a one man wrecking crew. This list should do alright. Just keep the Russ squads moving.

I would cut a Russ from each unit so you can do the smoke trick, pop on one and get cover because 50% of the unit is covered. I'd mix up the Russes too, probably take some Executioners in there and ditch the lascannons on the others.

Then with remaining points get Vendettas.

Tactics well turbo boost the Vendettas to get cover save if you do not go first and try refused flank - you deploy on a single board side and attack a single part of the enemies force.

If you're set on 9 Russes, consider swapping the 3 LRBTs with hull heavy bolters for 3 Exterminators. With so many templates you may find yourself in need of volume of fire to pick off the stragglers, and Exterminators are exceptionally good at that.

What is the purpose of that flamer vet squad?
They don't have a transport, and with all those short-range weapons, it seems like they are just pleading for a valkyrie.

the flamer unit is in vendetta.

I really don't think this would work out too well personally. Because you just have SOOOO many points tied up in three units that can only shoot at three targets a turn. Sure what they shoot at will more than likely die, but they still can only shoot at three things.

AV14 wall would be hard to crack, but you don't have much behind it do back them up. Not only that, but if you they get some pens on you, you will loose something valuable 2/3's of the time. Either a Turret or a complete Russ.

If you really feel that you still want to take all those Russ' I would swap one of the Battle Tank Squadrons for some Executioner's. In fact, making 6 of them Executioners and 3 Demolisher's would be 10x scarier than your current setup.

However 3 Demolishers Stock, 3 Battle Tanks Stock and 3 Executioner's with Plasma Sponsons is only 150 more points that your current setup. And I think this setup is a bit more scarier.

My friend took an 8 russ list to our second Ard Boyz tournament. I dont know how good you are with Guard, but he was pretty decent, and he got steamrolled every game. Just so you know.

This is why Russ lists don't work at high point values. You would need more of them to make them better, but squadrons are a liability. At 1500-1750, they work great because you can take singles for each FOC and they do well enough, but I think at 2000+, you need to opt for artillery and platoons to get the most out of Guard.

Have you done any testing thus far?

I havent tried this list, i have run 6 before in three squads of two. I expect at ard boyz to lose some of them, probably to devastators and equivalents. I would if i had the models lose some russes and replace with more vendettas and chimers. Just dont have models. I in past ard boyz see mostly fewer super powered squads over many squads. Also kill point which will be used in all ard boy battles will be less kill points running less points for opponent to earn. They would have to kill three russes to get 2 or 3 kill points. Also im hoping to target centrally located squads with the ordance, and scatter onto other squads.
