Because it sure as heck isn't 40k, or WFB...

My vote is a toss up between Inquisitor, and Gorkamorka.
I know if either of these games came back with a Fury I would be gaming every week again.

Gorkamorka was a brilliant game, but I think the problem was that Orks don't appeal to everyone.

I think the gamers are on the money with =I=munda. Necromunda with a few vehicles and some groovy imperial stuff, so it's not all about gangland fighting.

But for a game that needs another shot just like it was?

Warhammer Quest.

Bloodbowl is in good condition the way it is now. The LRB model and the rules council was a perfect fit for that game.

They could reboot gorkamunda with a simple system for 40k skirmish the way they did fantasy skirmish a few years ago. But with 6th edition 40k on the way and possibly a major overhaul for the how things work, no point until 6th is relased and accepted for a 6th edition 40k skirmish is released.

We kinda have it now with deathwatch teams. Still not the same.

I loved Mordheim. I would love a fantasy or 40k system that was the narrative warband-building... But most people want to use the models they have... not a whole bunch of nuns or demon clowns like mordheim. The issue comes down to... what plot would have warband skirmish with regular fantasy models or 40k models?

The game I have never played is BFG. I would really like to.

I'd like to see BFG get some nice things. The idea of space ship combat really appeals to me. I don't want them touching the Necromunda or Gorkamorka rules though, for the love of god I would like to see them put into a new box with the oold card terrain and maybe some new models, that would be cool. No rules changes though.

This.

Because of a lack of a game like this one, I'm currently writing a game that is a cross between 40k, Necromunda, and the LotR Battle Strategy Game.

The problem with wanting this from GW, however, is that it's complete fan-service, with no real profit potential, as it encourages a smaller amount of models/models that players already own. For that reason, you'll never see a GW published game like that.

I agree with not changing the rules, I never played Necromunda, and only had a few games of Gorka due to a lack of interest/ability to play with gamers.
But the rules are good, it just needs new models, maybe add an expansion to include other races.

Skirmish style games are way more fun in my opinion, and cost friendly for average gamers. Not to mention campaigns are way more fun!

Any and all of the Specialist Games. If they brought those back with some gusto, I might consider playing them. Of course, if they did that they'd probably jack up the prices on everything, so I don't know.

How about the following?
Necromunda, Warhammer Quest, Blood Bowl, Mordheim, Gorkamorka, Epic/Titan Legions, Warmaster & Battlefleet Gothic.
Most could use new sculpts or to have their minis available as plastic/metal/finecast/anything once more, as well as having them released as Games in a Box once more, with card terrain etc - the kind of things that may only cost you £50-60 but that you could play with the contents alone or add to if you really wanted.

I know most have their rules available for free at least, but the lack of attention to these games has allowed their competitors a huge foothold, but that's what they get for abandoning them in favour of LOTR

Interestingly the latest White Dwarf refers to a building from the Garden of Moar as "This building is perfect for representing the reliquary of a fallen hero, or a narrow entrance to some catacombs deep beneath the earth." Why would they write that? Or am I just clutching at the proverbial straw? There's a massive push for Warhammer going on at the moment, they've just released some big monsters, they have single figure plastic kits in production - surely all these ingredients could be used to make Quest again

As for non-GW games, for the more learned among us, what games would you like to see get re-booted?

As for GW, +1 for rebooting Mordheim, Epic/Warmaster, and Quest. Warhammer Quest was (Before the purchase of my Tau army) the biggest single source of authentic GW minis I'd ever gotten, contained in a fun game.

(Side OT note: The 3D WH Quest tiles some pople have done are fantastic: http://bwarhammerquest.runboard.com/t90260 )

seeing those WQ game tiles makes me want to get in on that one.

That was cool.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

For God's sake, pls no. Imho, the basic BFG ruleset is a very good system to represent space battles. Sure, I'd love to field my Imperial Navy fleet against a lot more opponents, but the system itself is fine.

I can highly recommend it, it is a challenge for experienced painters because of the tiny surfaces and edges (honestly, my ships look like crap..), conversion work is tricky to pull of but worth it.
It is not that competitive, though, since many things happen on a random basis, and bad rolls influence your battle plans more than in 40k or Epic. That's my only turn off.

The other thing I want them to change is the Necron fleet.. it's not fun to play with it, be it your own fleet or the enemies...
And of course more interesting lists for Dark Eldar.

You should try it out - for 100$, you can get a decent fleet to play with.

I don't think there's been much Deadlands d20 stuff in aeons. The recent stuff is Deadlands Savage Worlds. I think there's even a regular release and a 'revised' for that.

Which is it's own bundle of likes and dislikes... I got the collector's edition and originally disliked the loss of granularity from Deadlands Classic to the Savage Worlds version (I skipped Deadlands d20 other than a dual-statted book or two) but I think it's grown on me. Savage Worlds was derived from the Great Rail Wars minis rules, after all, which were kind of nifty.

BY 'loss of granularity' I mean that DL Classic had a lot of detail. Characters had multiple wound levels on various body parts, and skills could get very complex with different skill levels for different types of weapons (Pistols, Rifles, Shotguns, etc.). In Savage Worlds, PCs have three damage levels (like 'wounds' in Warhammer) and a few tricks to avoid these, as well as some spot-rules for location damage and such. Much simpler, but less 'interesting.' Skills are massively condensed, with all 'Shooting' under a single skill that includes pistols, shotguns, bows, etc. Even the attribute system is much simplified, with the 'trait levels' effectively gone. (So characters in DL Classic wmight have a 3d6 in a attribute, now just have a d6).

Still... Savage Worlds Works. And I think I'd consider it if I was to run Deadlands again. Combat rounds are much, much quicker... And deadlier, especially to mooks. (Most Deadlands GMs used some sort of Mook shortcuts anyway). It's possible to really do a Zombie Horde now, or a stampede of cattle... The attribute/skill range is compressed, but edges/flaws can help tweak things. A Ace Gunslinger type doesn't jsut have a super-high Shooting (Pistols) sakill, they have a good Shooting and a bunch of edges to back this skill up like specialties in the chosen weapon type, quickdraw, and more esoteric ones.

On the other hand, the Arcane Backgrounds are a bit more frustrating. Hucksters are pretty much just normal mana-pool spell-slingers now, with some rules to use card draws if they're pushing a power. Still: much, much quicker. And Savage Worlds approach to powers is a very generic system, so lots of less-flavorful spells are tossed in favor of a core of blasts, rays, and stuns the player and GM need to flush out. It's defintiely NOT a system liek CHampions where there's chapters of rules to define powers, more of just a note that the GM and player need to work things out like adults.

Mad Scientists... Mad Scientists were weird in previous versions, and still are. They're a core element of the system (many key events are the result of mad science) but the new system makes them more 'gadgeteers' than the older mad scientists. This is great as it makes them more useful in the moment (They use the same base powers as the Huckster, but with some rules to represent them being in gadget form) as they can improvise something on the spot, but I miss the idea that they're major plot-motivators as they're going to need some widget for their latest invention. Maybe just house-ruling that they need an 'obsession' that is a big project they're working on ("My scientist is trying to build a Steam-powered air conditioner that can cool entire towns!") and the on-the-fly gadgetry should be explained as research, studies, or offshoots of this ("I built a freeze ray! No, wait... This is based off the containment loop I was designing and should form a barrier!").

I don't remember which other Arcane Backgrounds were included. There's also a revised edition I never picked up.

One thing I did like is that Savage Worlds is point-based (unlike Classic, which required a card draw by default) so starting charcaters are a bit more balanced... But there's still a "Veteran of the Weird West" option that trades bonus new character stuff for a risky table of weird stuff the character has lived through.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.

I see alot of you folks are wishing there was an updated version of Necromunda with more stuff and vehicles. The good news is that we have just that. Check out:
http://www.yakromunda.com/

Yakromunda is a fan made page the collects all the Necromunda rules from the various WD and even has an article in the library called Ash wastes which features, gangs and vehicles from outside the hive. Most of it is official GW stuff, although they do have the living rulebook which is an updated version of the Necromunda rulebook which has had minor tweaks to clean up some of the weird rules. They host the original and updated rulebook so you can have both available. Most of the changes are minor and only done to help the flow of the game.

I don't think that BFG and Necro need re-boots but GW need to make them more mainstream to get more players.
Compared to Firestorm Armada BFg (RUleswise) I feel outstrips it with a more sensible Shields system and better torpedo systems and much more varied fleets.
Necro is a great game to play in general, it's shorter than 40K but offers good modeling oppertunites and is built moe around playing with friends than just a community.

I would quite like to see most of their "boardgame" style games get a face lift. I wouldn't mind playing some BFG (it looks interesting), 'munda, or Mordenheim. Some new warhammer quest stuff would be cool too

A good thing they are never going to do it since I am no longer buying anything from GW
