Are the pre made armies good or should i just get the two starter packs? I want a protectorate and my friend wants to play Khador. The Deal seems sweet especially since we a splitting the cost. What are your opinions on it before I throw $50 at PP.

Seeing as how the two player starter set is basically two one-player starter sets, plus an extra unit for each side, plus dice, ruler and the full rules (perhaps not all the fluff as it's a mini rulebook, but all the rules instead of just quick-start rules),and it's the same price as two one-player sets, I'd say it's absolutely worth it.

Ok that's what I figured I was just makin sure. Does anyone have an idea of where to go after that like a good next step for both armies

Well, after playing a few games and getting a good feel for it, you'd probably want to pick up the faction books for each army and have a good look at the options available to you. There's quite a lot of tactical flexibility within factions based on what you include in your force. For example, maybe your friend might decide he likes Karchev the Terrible for his warcaster as he's a beastly face-breaking, skull smashing machine, or perhaps he might decide he likes Zerkova, who requires quite a lot more finesse and subtlety. I don't play Menoth or Khador, and am fairly new to Warmachine/Hordes myself, so I can't speak to specific nuances of their units.

Privateer Press runs official forums. I haven't made much use of them, but they appear to be quite helpful and informative.

I started playing kinda recently with Khador, and I started with the regular battlebox. I've found a good next step is to pick up one or two more warcasters to get some changes in flavor, as well as a few units of infantry. Also for your Khador friend, I'd advise getting a Kodiak and a second Juggernaut. Two Juggernauts and a Kodiak running up the board will make any opponent sweat for a minute!

Eldar shenanigans are the best shenanigans!

Just know that the Menoth force isn't the same jacks as the Battle Box: they swap the Light with an Arc Node for a 2nd heavy.

I knew that they where slighty different that's why I asked whether the pack was better or worse

The two player pack, assuming you're playing both armies respectively, is overall much better than the individual "battle boxes". Not only do you get all the side stuff like a rulebook, dice, ruler, etc... you get full small armies for each side as opposed to the caster and a couple jacks. Buying the models individually sets you well over the price of the starter kit.

Yeah, get it. It's a pretty darn good deal, especially for $50.

Heavy Jack plastic kits are $35 retail, not $25, your math is off. Actually, your costs are off for almost everything.

The actual costs(using ONLY the things we have prices for and only if you wanted just what's in the box):

Khadoran Battle Box: $50
Kreoss: $12
A Menite Heavy: $35
Another Menite Heavy: $35
A Menite Light: $19
A box of Shocktroopers: $45
A box of Cinerators: $45
Total value(minus dice, ruler, and rule booklet): $241
Cost to you: $100

Is this a limited time offer or is it something they are going to have available for awhile?

Would it be worth it for two guys who already about the startboxes? I mean, if we get it discounted, so 80 total and 40 per person, would it be worth it just for the plastic infantry and a couple jacks?

The plastic infantry alone are worth about $100.

Well, you still get the rulebook, and as it was said above, the infantry alone are worth $100.

The Menoth player also gets another Heavy Warjack. Afterwards, here's what you do: each player goes out and buys the Khador and Menoth Heavy Warjack kit. The Khador player will be able to make all 3 jacks in the box (heh), and the Menoth Player will get 2 out of the box.

Khador box makes 4 different heavies.

Destroyer
Juggernaut
Decimator
Marauder

Even if you already have starter Battleboxes, the 2PBox gives you 2 five man units, mini book, and a different jack load-out for Menoth.
The Khador Man-O-War unit isn't available separately in plastic yet, either.

I question the existence of the marauder, I have never seen one in person.

As for the value of the 2 player box for established players: plastic heavy infantry tend to be $45 per unit, but if your were buying metal man-o-wars, that unit is about $85. The protectorate side gets an upgrade from $19 light to $35 heavy as well. If however, you don't actually want the battlebox jacks, shocktroops, cinerators, or vanquisher, the value goes down. It is really more a case of "will you use this enough to make it worth your money, even with the discount?", most people will reply "yes I will".

Personally I don't care for Menoth. So if I were to buy just for Khador, it would be worth it.

$55 for Man-O-Wars.
$50 for Khador Battlebox.
$105 total

Online discounts bring that total to $79ish.

$99 2P Box discounts to about $75. Leaving tons of stuff to trade with.

They say the Marauder comes in the heavy box...

Me and my friend are loveing warmachine, and we both play a faction in the 2 person starter, so we might pick it up.

I am thinking of picking it up and selling the models just for the mini book.

I picked up a Khador Battlegroup and my wife picked up a Menoth Battlegroup a couple weeks ago.

THEN I found out about the 2 Player box coming out. Doh!

I think it's definitely worth it since we paid pretty much the same price for the 2 battlegroup boxes as the set is going to be but didn't get all the other goodies.
