Just how do you mount a Forge World Thunderbolt onto its flying stand so it is removeable?

There is no "cross slot" on the fuselage like you get on a Stormraven and other models I have seen.

Magic?

If you have not assembled it, you might be able to add some magnets inside the aircraft.

Alternatively, you could drill into the bottom plate of the Thunderbolt and use pins to keep it in place. Or use plasticard to build up your own "cross".

I have no experience with the kit. Does it use the same stand a other ships?

Pretty much what Silver said, for my Barracuda http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Tau/TAU-AIRCRAFT/TAU-BARRACUDA.html I used a flat, rectangular rare-earth magnet from K&J Magnets (good prices, expensive to ship though)

One on the flight stand and one on the hull, and your set

The best thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's far too late to stop reading it.

I have built the fuselage now, but I could drill a couple of holes into the underside and fix some chunky 7mm x 2mm magnets, that should hold it.

Is it normal for Forge World flyers not to have base mounts? This is the first flyer of theirs I have purchased.

I just have to find the balance point when the wings are on...

Thanks all for the prompt replies!

Sounds like a plan. Just remember to mount it so it is the same height on the stand, just in case there are any TFG's around

I have the Assault Ram and it has the cross mount for the base...

Your instruction booklet should list all the parts you should have.

What if you got the rectangular bit that the IG Valkyrie uses to attach to its flying stand? Are the stands even the same size?

Gathering the Informations.

The Thunderbolt was released before the big flying stand existed.

The way that you were supposed to mount it was using a wooden dowel and a screw/nail going into the hole you drill into the Thunderbolt proper.

So far so good, fitted a magnet into the stand and the fuselage...

Not glued it yet...

Fantastic. I'm going to steal it for when I finally add a pair of Thunderbolts to my Guard.
