Hi all,

Frustrated by my attempts to create a Cromwellian army using the Empire Army Book, I have been looking through the WoC army book and found the rules there much more amenable (more heavy infantry/light cavalry selections)

Do you think I would get away with using the WoC rules with empire models?

So far my main thoughts are:

3x Converted WoC for warrior priests (on 25mm bases)

1x Converted WoC for BSB (on 25mm base)

3x 40 man blocks of Swordsmen (Marauders)

Light cavalry made from Pistoliers (marauder horsemen): Lancers (spear) Hussars (sword) Curaissiers i.e. with pistols (throwing axe)
maybe a few tweaked rules here like Hussars gain +1 Ini on charge for using cavalry sabres, throwing axes with 2x multiple shots, also want to give heavy armour to curaissiers to be more realistic, and keep fast cav status

2x 35 man blocks of Chosen or WoC made from greatswords with the halberds from the swordsmen boxes

Heavy cavalry made from pistoliers again, but with different weps (Chaos Knights): Dragoons (ensorcelled weapons)

2x mortars (hellcannon?)

fit cannons in somehow maybe with dogs of war

Reckon I would get away with it, or should i just write a bunch of separate rules?

cheers,

cK

It really shouldn't be that big of a strech, sounds like some good ol' green stuff work and you are on your way.

If that's what you prefer then go for it, just remember two things - to tell your opponent what everything counts as, and that nothing can be on 20mm bases. Even marauders are on 25mm.

I like the idea it will well might just get well confusing ish since I read it and can't even remember which you wanted to use it as chaos or empire.

I would say sick with an actual army book means less trouble.

Also chosen work well with warshrines and their halberds look good when made of knights lances (since there is no other use for those lances).

But ya make sure your opponent knows what's going on and marauders are also on 25 mm bases.

Alos unless his mortars randomly charged or magically exploded that may seem a bit odd.

I can't help but think the Empire book feels a lot closer to the New Model Army than the reworked Chaos book you've proposed.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I thought so too. But I'm kind of of the opinion that people should be able to swap in nearly anything "counts as" as long as it is clear to your opponent. I don't know how the Will of Chaos rules and such work with Cromwell, but hey.
