Quick question and hopefully a quick answer.
Hi there, I'm new to the game and was wondering, in a 1000pt army you're only allowed 3 fast attack choices, I want to field my 3 deffkoptas as 1 unit each also I want to field a unit of nob bikers with my warboss, now the question, would the nob bikers with the warboss count as elite/troop/fast attack, my guess is troop?

Nobs are an elite choice, but the warboss has a special rule, that allows you to take one squad of nobz or meganobz as troops. The addition of bikes doesn´t change that.

Short answer-troops, probably.

Long answer-Nobs are Elites, but they've got the option to buy bikes, which makes them look a lot like a Fast Attack unit. They aren't, though-buying the bikes doesn't make them Fast Attack.

Buying a Warboss, however, does give you the option of counting one unit of Nobs as a Troop selection. If you choose to make the biker Nobs that unit, they're Troops. If not, they stay Elite.

keep in mind that your boss is still a HQ choice, even if hes with the nob

Nobz are by default Elites.

You may choose to make 1 squad of Nobz a Troop because of your Warboss.

So Elite or Troop

nob bikerz + warboss = fast killy tough unit that count for scoring w/ objectives

Don't forget to equip each Nob just slightly different so you can really take advantage of the multi-wound rules.

For the original poster, you may find that Biker Nobz are a bit pricy for a 1000 point game.

Actually, you can do worse. In low point games you can usually quickly kill anything dangerous to them and then continue to wreck the entire board.

Thanks for the replies, i'm only getting the aobr set and a few other things for now, my list is as follows,
Warboss + Nob Bikers
20 Boyz
20 Boyz
3 Deffkoptas
all for 1000pts or thereabouts, I'm new to 40k and was wondering what to give my boyz, sluggas or shootas?

painboys rock, the finecast look easy to manipulate onto a bike (metal ones were a pain) do your self a favor and buy a nobz box, tou can chop the bodies on the AoBR nobz and add different equipment as well as use the existing nobz bodies and arms in the box to make bikers (just need the bikes)

ork bikes can be had cheap on ebay. esp if you just buy the bodies and kit bash the rest usually like 10 bucks for 3 shipped sure you have to chops some models to make ti work but they look origional

I'll try and do the painboy, maybe in bigger point games but I can't really do much else for 1000pts with my current setup.
