Subject: Comparison of Paasche Talon and Rich RB-2 Airbrushes

Dipping With Wood Stain

Hey guys,
has anyone had experience with Rich and Paasche Airbrushs? I've been using the Rich RB-2, which is a great brush, although quite limited accessory-wise. So I've been thinking for a few days now, if it may be time to upgrade. One of the brushes I've seen recommended here on DakkdaDakka is the Paasche Talon. I found a great deal on that one, including three different sizes of nozzles and needles - which I think is pretty neat for experimenting and trying out new things.
I was just wondering, how the quality of the Paasche stacks up against the Rich - because I don't wanna trade down in overall build quality and precision while gaining in flexibility and accessories.
So if anyone could give me a few tips and pointers, or would recommend one over the other - I would highly appreciate it.
Cheers,
IK-Painter

The Paasche Talon is IMO the best airbrush for our hobby for the best price. It's very well built, it disassembles easily for cleaning, and it works perfectly for everything from basecoating to freehand painting.
I cannot recommend it more! I simply love mine.

Just took the plunge and ordered me a Talon :-). Thing is, even with shipping from the US, it's still only 2/3 of the cost as the same brush here in Germany - which only includes one tip - the set I ordered includes three nozzles and needles in different sizes, an air hose and even a special aircap. Sometimes I wonder, why everything airbrushing so godawful expensive here.
With a bit of luck I can sell my RB-2 brush on Ebay when I have the Talon and break even on the purchase - Not bad at all, if In do say so myself ;-).
Cheers,

I have the same set that you bought. Personally I use the no.2 needle for almost all my work.

I was actually looking at this brush the other day, but I couldn't find a set that came with .2, .3, and .5mm needles. Also, the ones I find mostly come with .3mm needles, and I also pretty much exclusively use a .2mm needle. Mind pointing me at the package you were looking at? I may likely pick one up before the day is out.
Cheers.

Hope it works well for you. I've had a Talon for about a year now and I'm really pleased with it.
