Additional Hand Weapons. If you want to you could put a Savage Orc Shaman with Shrunken Head in the unit, but really though - you would be better running Savage Orcs on foot then.

So, in other words - Additional Hand Weapons.

Yes and no. Thing is, Savage Orcs usually shines with a Savage Shaman who can provide them a Shrunken Head -- and sure, even though it's possible to give Savage Boar Boyz all that it's just too many points and you'll get a better result with them being on foot. I think you can get about 40 Savage Orc Big'Uns for the same price as about 15 - 18 Savage Boar Boyz (not Big'Uns).

And generally speaking, 8th edition tends to focus more on infantry rather on cavalry. So large blocks of infantry will usually make a lot more difference than heavy cavalry.

For the Points, It's 22 Savage boars or 40 Savage Big Uns.
15 Boars is more than enough, so the Boars come in quite a bit cheaper than the big uns on foot (140 points cheaper).

IF you're not going to run the boars as the big uns, I'd give the big uns spears. 5 wide, I'd rather have 20 S5 over 5S5 and 20 S4.

Because boar boys have the speed to hit in the flank, they are a lot more survivable on the charge (no supporting attacks from the enemy), they can't be stomped on, and get a 5+ armor save on top of everything else.
Add to that, they are swift striders and have a much easier time killing what breaks.

Comparing Cav to infantry is like comparing gnoblar sharp stuff to cannons. They both act in the same phase, but fill totally different rolls.

So, It seems likle spears might be a better choice than AHW for savage orc BB big uns.

I'd go with spears on either regular or big'un Savage Orc boar boyz. Those extra points to wound and armor save reduction make a big difference against the tougher targets, which is what Orcs tend to have more trouble against, I think.

Spear and HW, not spear and shield, right?

Well you don't get the extra attack with Spear and HW, but you save 2 points per guy. I'd probably go with the shield also, a 4+ will help vs. missile fire.
