Subject: Beastmen or Dark elves (Mounted)

Ok, so for a fantasy army, i wanted something different. Being pretty new to all things games workshop, i havent got much experience with the rules for WHFB.
So onto the thing i need help deciding... I want to make a fast moving army, which can include obviously, Cavalry, Chariots, flyers and i guess monsters with decend speed are fine too. I'm not looking at a tournament list, but once ive got some experience, i'd like to win as many gamess as i loose.
So Beastmen 1500pts rough list -
Beastlord on Razorgor Chariot
Chalice of Dark Rain + some killing magic stuff
lvl2 Shaman on Razorgor Chariot
Skin of man
(Shadow)
Gorebull BSB??
5 Centigor (naked)
Ghorros
5 Centigor (Naked)
Razorgor
Razorgor
Harpes?
Ghorgon?
Razorgor Chariots look really mean with primal fury, and i've been reading alot about centigors and i think this would be a pretty fun list to play. Solo Razorgors can charge in any direction and seem really worth the points. 2 Razorgor chariots + Ghorgon chargin in the front of a miasma'ed unit could be quite amusing. I'm planning to convert alot of these mini's (Razorgors + centigors metal.... no thanks) so could be a great project also.
Dark Elves i have only scanned the Army Book, so only know i like the models and background. Cores would have to be dark riders, then Cold One Knights, Chariots? Shades, Hydra, plus mounted sorc + master/dreadlord. I need a bit of help working out Dark Riders. How to take and equip them, and if an all mounted DE list is even wrth bothering with.
My main question is, would these lists work?

Just remember you need at least 25% of your army to be core.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Sure if you got the skills. As a rule I wouldn't recommend them since they are tough to pull. But if you're interested in such a beastmen list, I suggest that you try and find a guy on the Herdstone called Ghorros Warhoof. As far as I know he's the only one with good experience with such a list.
Can't help you with Darkelves sorry. But if it's just a fast and maneuverable army you want, Bretonia does it best as you no doubt know.

Yeah, Gharros and 2x5 centigor = 405pts, which enough in a 1500pt list.
As for bretonnia, they dont really interest me tbh. All their units look very similar (model wise). And i'll check out herdstone. Thanks! =)
Still need some input on dark elves to make a decision. If anyone can help, would be appreciated.

Mounted Dark Elves can work. I've done it with some sucess.
The trick is that you don't have any infantry blocks to tie up his big blocks. You can't go toe-to-toe with them and win with a Cav list, so you have to whittle them down to something you can handle.
Now, you CAN slow his blocks down. Put Dark Riders 1" outside his basic move (if he moves 4" put them 5" away) and shoot. He can either charge - and you flee, most likely escape, he only moves d6", you rally, move back, repeat ad nauseum or he tries to maneuver around you. Run Dark Riders in units of 5 with RXBs and musicians. You'll have a good number of them so if you loose one or two units it won't be a disaster.
You'll NEED a big unit of 10-15 Cold One Knights in two ranks, preferably with the Hydra Banner BSB. This is your big attack unit, and it's vital to protect it until you can throw it into a target you can break. A secondary unit of 5 COK naked to protect its flanks is nice.
Hydra can also mess up a mid-sized unit on it's own (up to 20). With the big block of COK you can smash even big units. With the support of a secondary unit of COK it can do units up to 30ish. Take two. You'll need them.
I do recommend a slight compromise to your all-cav theme. Shades are too good not to have, two units of 5 are good, more are better.
Characters: You'll want an Unkillable Dread, either on a CO or a Dark Peggie. This is the only tarpit unit you'll have in theme. Throw him into the biggest threat before it hits your lines and pin it there the rest of the game. Once you've dealt with the rest of his list, you can decide to either hit the big threat with everything you have left, or just go away and let it waste the rest of the game whiffing on the Dread.
A Cauldron of Blood can help that big block of COK hit even harder. But you will be very careful with it's deployment and manuever or it will be hopelessly left behind with such a quick army. It's very nice, but not truly necessary
You'll want some magic defence too. In a low-point battle 2 level 2s will do, but if you can afford it, a level 4 is wonderful. Just don't sacrifice the Dread for one, you'll need him too much. Don't bother with a Sac Dagger; everything you have is too expensive, and in too small numbers, to be sacrificing. I suppose if you want a block of 20 spearmen naked as a bunker you could do that. If he gets any forces serious enough to threaten it to them, you've probably already lost.
