Hey guys, first topic on these boards and I'd love to hear some of your good advice .

Here's the thing. I just revived my 40k CSM army after about a 5-6 year retirement. I've played a few smaller fun battles in the past 2 weeks (500-1000 points) but am now going for a 1750 game.
For this, I've put together the list below and I would be more than grateful for and open to any advice. The army I will first play it against will be a 1750 Tyranid swarm. So basically just want a checkup if the following list would be competitive and whether or not I should change the configuration in the sense of weapons and/or troop choices.

HQ
Daemon Prince (1) = 175
- Wings
- Mark of Nurgle
- Warptime

Daemon Prince (2) = 175
-Wings
-Mark of Nurgle
-Warptime

ELITE
Dreadnaught = 110
-Twinlinked Autocannon

TROOPS
9x Plague Marines = 282
- Aspiring Champion with PF
- Rhino Dedicated Transport

9x Khorne Berzerkers = 274
-Skull Champion with PF
- Rhino Dedicated Transport combi Melta

-9x Khorne Berzerkers = 274
-Skull Champion with PF
- Rhino Dedicated Transport combi Melta

HEAVY SUPPORT
Defiler = 150
-standard config

Vindicator = 125
-standard config

Havoc Squad = 185
- 7x CSM
- 3x Autocannon
- 1x Missile Launcher

TOTAL: 1750

Besides the wargear listed above I have the following available as well:
- 2x Chaos Predator
- 2x Marine with lascannon

Thanks for your time!

The Dreadnaught is pretty meh.

The PM squad needs weapons upgrades.

The Defiler should use x2 DCCWs. No reason to give it more guns it will never fire.

The Vindicator should have Daemonic Possession.

You don't need any more than 5 dudes in that Havoc squad.

..........

Personally, I'd run 2 MSU PM squads. They only need 5 dudes to take 2 weapons upgrades, and that's a nice way to squeeze in an extra scoring unit with special weapons.

I'd try and figure out what you want your HS choices to do in this list. Obliterators are far and away the best choice in the codex. Although spamming Possessed Vindicators or Defilers in multiples can be a cool gimmick if you're running double-Lash in your HQ.

- Imperial Fists - 7290
- Deathskulls - 6150

I wouldnt take the dread as he can be more of a hinderance than a support. instead i would take a pred.

Instead of the Dread, I'd take a GP as a speed bump or tarpit units.

Agree with most of what wtwlf123 said here - dreads are OK but you need to keep them well away from your own troops in case they go crazy and start shooting them. Chosen loaded with meltas in a rhino are always a good bet. Definitely upgrade your PM squad with meltas/flamers (cheap and effective) and yes - get some obliterators ASAP, they're pretty good especially if you deep strike them in (possibly near a squad with a chaos icon so they don't deviate) then blast enemy armour with meltas or las cannon.

In the frozen land of Nador they were forced to eat Robin’s minstrels. And there was much rejoicing.

Right behind you...

If I were you, I would drop the dread and take a pred for additional support. That way, you would have a more mobile heavy weapon platform.

There is only the Emperor, and he is our shield and protector.

Thanks for the (fast) replies! Definitely words I can work with!

-I see the dreadnaught is a pretty unpopular choice. I must say it has only given me mediocre results in the past so I see where they are coming from. If I could I would indeed switch it for a Pred, but I have already filled up 3 HS choices with what I thought were best for large swarms.. Really the only way to justify it was that it is an Elite and I could use it to make 1750 and couldn't put a 4th HS in. I think I can just remove it and settle for a lower point cap though!

-It also seems of general consensus to put a Predator in the army. If anything, I could deploy one instead of the Havocs and give it the autocannon + side Heavy bolters. Would this be a wise decision? It is more point efficient but the havocs have quite some firepower and diversity as well.

- Good points on upgrades/changes of the PM's, the defiler, and the Vindicator. Definitely implementing that.

- Oblits are on the buying list!

Cheers!

I'm not a big fan of Chaos Predators. But I think they're better than Havocs.

Oblits are really far and away the best option. Multiple Defilers can be solid, as can multiple Possessed Vindis. Those are really the only HS options I'd go with though, and I definitely wouldn't run 1 of each type unless I had no other choice.
