I haven't done flesh tearers but i'd prob go with a red gore base, then black wash, then red gore again on raised, then red gore lightened with blood red to highlight.
In my head that works, obviously I don't know for sure but this is the way i'd go. 
As for LR parts, I can't think of anywhere but I don't think they'd be that hard to make yourself from plasticard. Just a thought!

You think that'll work the red parts of them are quite dark. and plasticard, as in thicker paper cut the part out paint and glue on?

Yeah I think so. Red gore is quite a dark red, so that over a black undercoat and washed with black will be pretty dark. You will need to reapply the red gore to raised areas to highlight.
When are the thinking of starting? I have seth at home which i've been meaning to paint. If you're not in a rush i'll try it first if you like? (prob wouldn't be till sunday though!)
As for the LR parts, plasticard is more like thin sheets of plastic you can get from hobby stores. Either that or you could try ebay for old cutting blades?

ooooo!! I like that idea, because the army i'm running with Seth will have a LR Crusader as his transport and I was going to give it a different paint job and was hoping for flesh tearer doors etc for his "chariot" haha
Won't be until I get home next month that I start painting everything.

Google flesh tearers and warseer there's a great thread there, he uses killa kan saw blades to decorate infantry and vehicles.
For color I do mechrite, spray from above with red gore and washed with somethig similar to Declan mud and highlighted in blood red

I usually just brush paint, so airbrushing is something new to me, why would I only spray from above outta curiousity?

Spraying from above would create a highlight.

When painting Gabriel Seth, I found that Baal Red wash was great for darkening the blood red highlights I did on the armour.
Basicly it was like Scorched Brown, Red Gore, Badab Black, Red Gore again, Blood Red highlight then Baal Red.

for the red on my flesh tearers 1. prime with black 2. base with Vallejo scarlet red 3. hight light with the foundation red 4. wash with badab black 5. re highlight with foundation red  i would hold off on washing with badab untill i got everything else all did up. the metalic areas are just boltgun metal with the black wash. the black areas have based black, the darker gry foundation gray highlight, then further highlighted with codex gray, then black wash. the gold i think is the middle step as far as tone goes, then a duvlin mud wash. as far as tank icons and stuff. the forge world etched brass is well worth the price!! 2 sheets and you should be able to do up an army and have left overs. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space_Marine-Vehicle-Accessories/ETCHED-BRASS-FLESH-TEARERS-SYMBOLS.html

So I been looking at that one warseer.com thread and I can't figure out how he used the defdread CCW to make the Dreadnought's blood talons. But I have found a hole bunch of nice stuff. I can't wait to start customizing when I get home.

Otherwise, various DC bits and bobs, and just make sure they are nice and dinged up and grubby rather than all clean and ultrasmurfy. Too busy punching face to clean and fix up armour.

If you go on the GW website to the Deffdread there is a picture of The sprues. On the first one there is a circular saw bit, right and down from the center. I believe he shaved off the spiky parts and mounted them back to back probably mounted to a short piece of tube and hitched to the arm. Does that make sense? It looks like he used four of them.
