In the Codex, it states Ulrik is older than Logan, and Logan has served the Imperium for 700 years! So what do you think? How old?

"For Russ and The Allfather!"

"Listen closely Brothers, for my life's breath is all but spent. There shall come a time far from now when our Chapter itself is dying, even as I am now dying, and our foes shall gather to destroy us. Then my children, I shall listen for your call in whatever realm of death holds me, and come I shall, no matter what the laws of life and death forbid. At the end I will be there. For the final battle. For the Wolftime."-Last words of Leman Russ the Primarch of the Space Wolves Chapter of Space Marines.

Space Marines have an unknown natural lifespan. To look at the age of the Custodes, they may well be immortal.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

So your saying if Ulrik doesn't die in battle, he could live forever?

Thats a good point you have raised there.

If the Custodes just sit around and guard the big E with very little chance of actually getting called into action they could well end up living for ever! Could some still be survivors from Horus' assault on Terra?

Bet those 10k years have dragged guarding the same hallway.

They do seem that they may easily be biologically immortal which generally means they can't die a natural death.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

Isn't Dante the oldest living Space Marine, or is it oldest living Chapter Master?

Ok, then Ulrik is between 700 and ~1,100 then.

Custodes are different from space marines and are modified in different ways. Unfortunately we will never know how long an Astartes can actually live. Technically they are designed to be biologically immortal, but it can't really be proven.

Well, the Space Wolf book is kind of messed up in this regard. On the one hand, it syas Ulrik was a Wolf Guard or something during the First Armageddon war, whilst in the front of the book in that battle's section he's mentoring Grimnar as Chapter Master.

But yeah, as Coolyo said, 'pretty damn old'.

Dante is older than 1100 now. The current BA codex changed it to be that he has been chapter master for over 1100 years, they do not state how old he is.

In regards to Ulrik, being the Wolf Priest that recruited Logan doesn't give us much to go off of unfortunately. It could mean a relatively small age difference really, or it could mean a few centuries.

I heard that he was 1402.

Just off topic, does anyone else notice that Ulrik(a space wolf) is an abstraction of Ulric, who in Fantasy was a God of the Empire, who was symbolised by a wolf.Just a tidbit.

I'm going for around 1000 years old. In Horus Rising, it says that Marines are immortal, but not invulnerable. So, they could live forever, as long as they aren't killed.

Who knows how old he is.

as for Dante, we don't know how old he is. all we know is that Lysander can't remember a time when Dante wasn't chapter master.

Lysander was lost in the warp for a thousand years and was First Captain when lost.

He had to have been around a 100 to have even had a chance to be first captain.

so that makes Dante chapter master for 1100 years, and probably a few hundred before becoming Chapter Master himself. so Dante being >1500 seems like a safe estimation.

Ulrik is somewhere between 700 and 1500 years old.

The Sergeant of the scout squad Dante was in is still alive.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Only if that character still exists. As far as I know he hasn't actually been retconned, but he is suspiciously absent from the last few codices.
