Confident Marauder Chieftain

hi i always like to do a back story for my armies from the Salamanders i have to the Chaos warrior army of Steves lol. Well i'm starting a Chaos space marine army and wanted to do a story involving them. They're led by a Daemon Prince called Mala'kai and a sorcerer of Tzeentch called Var'dak. They're called the soul reapers and are Tzeentch and Slaanesh worshippers. I'm not good at writing or story telling but this is what i came up with so tell me what you think XD
The survivors were dragged into the city. Thousands upon thousands of them, many imperial citizens that couldn't flee the planet in time aswell as guardmen that surrendered thinking they were safe if they did. Their captors took them to locations around the city and forced them to sit or kneel. Many were crying or pleading for their lives, some started praying but these were taken and beaten by their captors. The Chaos Space Marines stood around their charges, some laughing at the pitiful creatures they had coraled. In the center of this city stood Mala'kai, the daemon prince and leader of this chaos host, the soul takers. He had done this ritual one the other planets and now this was the final one. He was inspecting his latest trophy when he heard footsteps enter the square. he turned and grinned, ten grey knights were carried on stakes into the square, each one having a device rammed onto their heads to prevent them from using their psyker powers. ahead was the sorcerer var'dak. He was a willing second in command to mala'kai but the daemon prince knew the sorcerer craved nothing more then to usurp him and take complete control of the soul takers, a badly kept secret.
Var'dak supervised the setup of the final sacrifices as the grey knights were placed in a circle around mala'kai. exactly 20 paces from him. All over the city the remaining imperial followers were in position. Mala'kai knelt down on the plinth where the statue of saint jerome used to stand. After twenty minutes the monster had carved out a runic circle onto the plinth. Satisfied he stepped off and signaled to Var'dak to begin. the sorcerer stepped into the circle and started to chant.
"you'll never win chaos filth"
Mala'kai turned to the grey knight, he was a captain and as such had been the only one to not have broke.
"oh I believe I have already" the Damon sniggered, raising a claw to the grey knights chin to get a better look into the knights eyes
"you think i don't know that others are coming to try and prevent me? I knew from the start how this would play out."
Mala'kai leaned in closer
"This planet was selected as it contained enough holy and pure souls in the imperium of man. I let them send a distress signal to attract the attention of the nearby space marine chapter, the same space marine chapter which answered and are on their way."
The daemon stepped back and back handded the grey knight. a normal human would have been dead but the grey knight recieved a broken jaw instead. Mala'kai grabbed the jaw making the grey knight groan and hiss in pain.
"I also knew you would be coming. I laid a trap here for you. 40 of your brothers arrived to banish me and my breathren back to the warp but instead you were defeated. 30 of your brothers are dead as you gave into to something you grey knights shouldn't have....vain glory and arrogance."
Mala'kai looked into the captains eyes
"i smelt it on you as i still do. It was your arrogance that blinded you to the danger and when you saw me you charged head long without your brothers aid or counsel."
the Daemon saw the anquish in the captain. he had broken him revealing his weaknesses and his failure. laughing the daemon moved away as the ritual was reaching its climax.
"Has anyone in the imperium ever thought of the possibilities of the human soul? what if I were to tell you that you could compare a human being with a thermo generator."
Mala'kai moved into the center of the ritual circle but the grey knights could still hear him.
"it is like an energy source. it is what gives a humand life but it can also be used in another method."
then the daemon grabbed the trophy he was inspecting earlier. A cryoflask taken from the grey knights apothecary before he could destroy it. Mala'kai made sure he was one of the sacrifices in the circle.
"but it's not just humans that contain this energy. Planets contain enough to destroy whole sectors. there is also a way to leach this energy and use it."
Mala'kai smashed the Gene seed into the plinth as Var'dak uttered the final syllables. the whole plinth lit up then ten arcs of light shot out consuming the ten stakes holding the greyknights. The screams they emitted were heard all over the city, cowering the prisoners. then the light spread out consumming each group in total. The light follwed contours the prisoners were forced to dig and eventually the ritual circle was complete. All the prisoners and the grey knights dropped dead, they're souls being plucked from their bodies, in the center of the ritual circle Mala'kai and Var'dak were looking at the fruits of their labors, a giant red crystal was floating in front of them, in the half light one can see the tormented souls of the planets inhabitants and the grey knights, all screaming.
"Get this onto the ship there is one left to do."
Var'dak nodded "all this to destroy a space marine chapter. some would say it's melo dramatic."
Mala'kai laughed
At the edge of the subsector a space marine battle barge, the emperors hammer breached the warp. moements later 2 strike cruisers and a flotilla of escort vessels followed. The symbol of the Hammer and thunderbold signaled them as the sky hammers, They were a small chapter but fierce in their strategy. They attacked by drop pod and thunderhawk, striking at the heart of the enemy. This tactic worked them well until they came across the alpha legion. as the traitor legion had a more flexible approach to command structure the sky hammers were badly annhilated and would have been wiped out then if it wasn't for the arrival of the Ultramarines and Blood Angels. Chapter master Marcus vowed vengeance against the chaos lord Mala'kai who was a member of the alpha legion then. learning that Mala'kai had struck the imperial world of tharsis the sky hammers were mobilised and left at chapter strength to destroy Mala'kai and wipe they're defeat from their honor. Marcus was on the bridge of the emperors hammer, gazing at the planet.
"what do you suppose those markings are on the city?"
his chief librarian studied them through the viewfinder
"it appears to be a ritual circle."
"but it covers the entire city!!"
"yes though i didn't detect it, it might be disused"
Marcus turned to an officer "any signs of life?"
"none sir the entire planet is unpopulated."
"Then we are to late to save the inhabitants but i have a feeling Mala'kai isn't far away."
"SIR ENERGY CONTACT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PLANET!!"
Marcus turned to the view screen to see a chaos ship come from the darkside of the planet, it released a glowing red meteorite towards the planet. as soon as the meteorite was released the chief librarian fell to his knees screaming.
"The...Pain....the endless....screaming....AAAAAGH!!"
the librarian collapsed dead, Marcusran over and saw the blood gushing from the eyes, nose, ears and mouth. whatever had happened it had laid low a space marine librarian. Then it happened.
The ritual circle on the planet became active, it lit with a baleful red glow. Worse the three other planets contained ritual circles aswell. these activated and the psychic energy from them had and imediate effect on the star of the system. it glowed red and started to grow. Marcus ordered the fleet to retreat but reports had come in that every psyker had died painfully just like the chief librarian. without them the sky hammers couldn't breach the warp and escape. the sun then went super nova wiping out the whole sector and destroying the entire fleet, not even void shields could protect from the ravages of a star. The chaos ship had managed to escape into the warp and marcus watched as the emperors hammer was engulfed. As they had arrived at their remaining strength the chapter had died with the tharsis sector. All that could be hear now from that region of space was screaming.

Lol. Im loving how you think a demon horde or chaos space marines could defeat 40 battle brothers. In the fluff thats pretty improbable. As well as them being arrogant or having some sense of vainglory. that doesnt happen. Good other than that

ok well this is what i've got so far :-)
Soulreapers Chaos Warband
Mala'kai the Cruel
Sometime before his ascendancy, Mala was a techmarine of the Alpha Legion. He fought in many battles during the crusades and was with his legion at Istvaan V during the dropsite massacres. After the heresy and the supposed death of his primarch Mala fought the Eldar of Craftworld Ulthwe on Spectius, a world with a continuous lightning storm ravaging it's surface. When the Eldar targeted the Alpha legions bunkers the attack was led by wraithguard. After defeating the Eldar force Mala found one of the fallen wraithguard and was drawn to the soulstone containing the soul of a fallen Eldar warrior.
Entrigued by the stone he began studying them, eventually concluding that the soulstone can produce mass amounts of power but before he could start testing his theory the stone broke releasing the soul inside. Knowing that the Eldar wouldn't give their soulstones willingly to him, Mala started experimenting on creating his own. After 500 years he reaped the souls of 50 slaves into a new stone then, attached to his conversion beam, he killed his old warband so no-one remained with the knowledge of how to create these stones but him. He then fled to the eye of terror to gather a new warband.
After gaining enough followers, Mala's warband attacked the hive world of Perdition. The imperial forces were unable to stop them and after capturing a whole hive city of 20 million imperial servants he began his greatest plan. Performing rituals and placing runic circles around the hive the former alpha legionare, using himself as the center of the ritual, turned the entire hive populace and his "foolish" warband into formless souls which merged with him granting him near unlimited power and ascennsion into a daemon prince becoming Mala'kai. With his birth scream a thousand astropaths on a nearby imperial relief fleet heading for the planet screamed and died, stranding the fleet in the warp.
The scream also opened a massive warp rift unleashing the legions of the dark gods upon perdition. The planet became a new daemon world in Mala'kai's image, the seas became black as oil and the skies darkened into a massive storm with purple lightning striking all remaining vestiges of imperial rule while the cities themselves screamed as the souls of those that remained were sucked from their bodies into the very walls.
Eventually Mala'kai was defeated by a grey knight strike force and was banished to the warp. Perdition was destroyed by exterminatus and everyone thought that was the end of Mala'kai, however that was to be proved wrong. Mala'kai appeared 10 years later on Fiscus, another world of the imperium, leading a band of chaos space marines. The PDF force was mobilised and the nearest space marine chapter, the Sky Hammers, were beseeched for help. Why Mala'kai was able to return in such a short time was due to the souls that made his essence, when his body was destroyed his mind was able to use the souls that escaped to rebuild himself and in the 10 years since his defeat he has gathered a chaos warband around him. To show his newfound immortality he took a Leman Russ shot and imediatly rebuilt in front of the terror stricken eyes of the PDF troopers, many of which turned on their own for their own survival.
Mala'kai was eventually defeated by the Sky Hammers but this was part of Mala'kai's plan. The point of the invasion was to create a "bloody seal" over a period of a century the rest of the planets were attacked in bloody invasions and the sky hammers then arrived and drove the warband off until on the last planet of the system, Tharsis where Mala'kai's warband too the planet. Enslaving the populace of billions, Mala'kai created a massive ritual circle around the planets capital, then set up a psychic beacon to attract his greatest prize. As he planned a grey knight strike force had arrived to stop what they thought was a daemonic incursion. However when 40 battle brothers made planet fall their strike cruiser was destroyed by an unknown source. Brother-Captain Ignius led his brothers into the city where they were confronted by Mala'kai and his marines. The battle was fierce but in the end 10 battle brothers were all that remained and each was brought down and captured including Ignius.
Mala'kai's greatest victory culminated in the destruction of the entire system. After creating a massive soulstone from the 10 grey knights and the slaves, Mala'kai waited until the Sky Hammers came. He then released the soulstone into space and destroyed it. The resulting psychic scream was powerful enough to activate the seals on the planets of the system which intensified the scream to cause the system's star to go nova and wipe out the astartes fleet.
Mala'kai is still at large and his warband, the Soulreapers, has grown in number. Recently the daemon has entered an alliance with an unidentified Iron Warrior warsmith.
Var’dak the Enlightened
Var’dak was originally of the Salamanders chapter. A librarian of high esteem it was during the second war for Armageddon that Var’dak began wanting ‘more’. He began looking through the archives of the chapter looking for power and, unfortunately, he wanted the easy route. He hid his search from the chapter, reading the darkest secrets hidden by the chapter but his search proved heretical. He tried but failed to kill the captain of the 2nd chapter and fled Nocturne. Reaching the Eye of terror he sold his soul to Tzeentch craving power above all else. He travelled from warband to warband learning what he could before moving on.
Eventually he came across the Daemon Mala’kai and found something he never thought, unlimited power. He pledge his allegiance to the daemon in hopes of learning to create his own ascension and take Mala’kai’s position in the warband, however the daemon was not that easily fooled. Seeing the ambition in Var’dak, Mala’kai only revealed certain rituals to the sorcerer so he will never betray him and usurp him. Var’dak normally helps with the rituals but the main important parts to create a soulstone are still hidden from him and Mala’kai will never reveal them to him. Var’dak has on occasion tried to overthrow Mala’kai but each attempt has failed so far and it is only the patience and humor of the daemon that has let Var’dak still serve him as master. Who knows perhaps one day Var’dak will overthrow Mala’kai and gain the secrets he craves or perhaps Mala’kai’s patience will finally run out.
i'll add more soon :-)
