They seem pretty interesting, you get the best of both worlds.
You get to play marines but whilst having them look and feel slightly different. But why should i collect space wolves?

You shouldn't pick them for their background in my opinion. Their fluff is bland and poorly handled, despite its huge potential. They're filled with cliches, special snow-flake moments and utter moronic moments that make me want to bash my head in with a brick. But that's just what I think.

You should and should not pick them for their game performance. They're stupid good, having low-costed and over-powered units. You shouldn't for the same reason. They have a style that fits a shooting army more than an army of savage barbarians.

I think that the wolves would be my second army choice if I ever wanted to start one (or I had not just got a sizable Imperial Navy fleet). They appeal to me as you can build an army of impressive heroes and create an elite, narrative style force. Naming all of your men and recording their exploits sounds fun to me. I would probable eschew the more competative builds and go for a very unique style, trying to avoid duplication and create an adventuring warband.

You get to play "Marines...+1"

If you like the faction's look & feel and/or their rules? That's pretty much all it boils down to. In terms of rules it's pretty hard not to go with Space Wolves, they are in many cases drastically undercosted and overcapable, but if you aren into them or just want a powerful army, go for it. As others have said, their fluff is widely seen as...unsatisfactory. If you enjoy it, then go for it by all means, though many find them to be contradictory, inconsistent and silly.

You'll find SW's are rather controversial.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Ignore the haters. The SW army book can make any type of army except an all bike army and do it well. Unlike other codexs the SW codex has 5-6 solid builds in it, instead of just 1.

Yeah other players may hate them because their opponents have latched onto one of the net lists that is all about spamming 3 units. But if you take units that you like and come up with a solid theme for yourself you will have an army that is enjoyable to play and performs well on the tabletop.

I run a wolf list that is nothing like the net lists. Never had a complaint from any opponent.

1. Do you like Spam?

2. Do you like to graciously ignore the limitations, rules and trade-offs others have to play by?

3. Do you like winning loads-a games without ever having your skills challenged?

4. Do you enjoy infantile fluff about womanizing, planestealing, pubecent frat-boys that violates everything 40K used to be?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, Space Wolves is for you!

Look over the rules, background and models and see if you like anything. Pick them because you like them, never need more of a reason than that.

One might think that, though I haven't seen an SW army that wasn't running at least 2, usually 3 full 5ML toting Long Fang units HQ's consisting of Rune Priests, and tons of grey hunters and razorbacks in...well over a year

You should play me. At 1850 points I don't have a single long fang in my list. Heck, dare I say it... I even have a drop podding dread. I know, I know, blasphemy, but there it is.

I can't give you a reason to collect space wolves IMO they are boring.

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.

I love playing my space wolves. And I run one squad of long fangs with no MLs. I've always had fun playin them as well. The current codex isn't the greatest but it isn't that bad either. People are just hating because it is the current hate phase goin on the internet and TFG who have to win at all costs are runnin nothin but spam lists which ruins it for everyone.

I can't think of a witty retort to this so I'll just agree with it.
