Looks interesting, given it free to play I'll definitely take a look. For sure using Age of reckoning assets and gameplay though (not that that's bad IMO).

Warhammer Online was one of the best MMOs I've ever played. The main issues behind it were class balancing (ie Bright Wizards being able to kill everyone) and lack of impact on the world with its RvR, which were never addressed completely.

The face that this is embracing the best part about the game and making it free to play with a nice twist on the core gameplay makes me really excited for it.

The art looks....a bit different for some reason

Also you can play as a vampire I think

I hate F2P mmos though and a pvp centric one at that so pass for me

Doesn't really look or feel like warhammer at all imo. Still, will probably give it a go anyway since its Free to play.

Character selection screen has a lot of blank slots showing in the video, wouldn't be surprised if every race was represented at least once.

Does that mean we can play as a Fimir or a Zoat?

They're not races, they're an all but forgotten memory that GW taunts us with.

Who knows? Maybe they'll fit them in to promote Storm of Magic

We all know in less than 6 months GW will forget about SoM like every other expansion and those models will never be released.

The only reason a single Fimir and Zoat were put into SoM was so that we'd shut the hell up at Games Day asking when they'd be back.

To me this reminds me of League of Legends combined with Warhammer Online (the premise, I mean)... free to play with some DLC...

For those that love pvp with a passion, this will offer mannnny hours of entertainment.

I just hope they have different modes other than just destructive 6v6v6... some flag capturing and team king of the hill would be fun too... hell... even in the same 3 team format.

Reminds me of Arena pvp from World Of Warcraft, just way bigger.

This might be pretty cool, as long as it's balanced.

I liked Warhammer Online except for the truly horrendous class balance. I was a Blackguard, and IIRC I couldn't kill much of anything, not even the class I was supposed to be strong against. I also remember that most Order classes seemed a lot more powerful than their Destruction counterparts except for Chosen, who were better than KotB and Disciples of Khaine were on par with Warrior Priests. And then, instead of balancing they classes they added in Land of the Dead.

Oh well, hopefully this will be better. Normally I'm squeamish about F2P but in this case I'm all for it.

There's something really dodgy about the graphics style... like everything has had some sort of half-assed photoshop filter placed over it to simulate it actually looking good.

While I don't quite see what scarletsquig sees in the graphics, I do think some of the textures in WAR aren't all that hot. I'm also now remembering some of the casting animations being... bad. Which is surprising because I thought that DAoC had great animations.

so is this an expansion for the warhammer online that's out now? or a totally new game?

I think it's an alternate game, so to speak. Instead of being a full blown MMORPG, it's an arena battle game.

Somewhat ironic coming from a guy with a TF2 Soldier as his avatar.

I know TF2 doesn't really count as an MMO, but I've seen people try to argue otherwise, mainly because of the item/crafting system and the Mann Co. store.

The LoL community is full of pricks. If you're not already good at the game when you start playing then good luck ever actually getting into a game and playing to the end.

If the community for this game is like that then I'll pass.

Sounds like my experience with WAR. I was a blackguard, too. Couldn't kill gak in PvE, couldn't PvP...I paid for one month and never went back after that, lol.

I'll probably check it out.

I have some decent memories of WaR, for the short time I actually played it.

More interested in 40K and the direction THQ is going.

Mythic took Fantasy and ruined it as a game imo.

"AM are bunch of half human-half robot monkeys who keep tech working by punching it with a wrench And their tech is so sophisticated that you could never get it wrapped it out" thing a LITTLE to seriously. It also goes "Tau tech is so awesome I wish I was Tau and not some stupid Human" thing.

Graphics look cheap, and 3 teams will inevitably break down in the toxic Dota style environment. I'm sure a substantial fraction of games will end with two teams ganging up on the 3rd while avoiding each other most of the time.

How dare you insult my loot system

Nah its just I'm horrible at optimizing stats/gear/levels in MMOs, which means that in PvP I'm probably a weak link. When I did play WAR, most of the time all I did was tank and tanks didnt really do much back then

Looks very dated at this stage.
PvP in WAR was great fun but Im not sure a purely arena style game will work. They will certainly have to do extensive play testing to achieve some level of class/ability balance.
