Subject: Projekt Bench DX3: Evil Eye in da Sky! - Armies on Parade!
I've recently been inspired to get working on the hobby to get my stagnant pile of stuff moving from NIB to painted to playing!
** I'll try and use a real camera too to take WIP pics, but my camera phone is just so convenient!**
Progress from last night:
Sprayed seven Drop Pods with Army Painter Greenskin.
Also sprayed Master of the Forge w/Thuder Hammer and did a few details in GW Blood Gore and GW Skull White.
Completed two colors, First GW Sunburst Yellow, Then GW Macharius Solar Orange on all shoulder pads of Marines, Dreadnoughts.

Some work over the weekend:
layed down some basing material (black floral sand mixed in with dark red fish tank gravel)
first layer of GW Burnished Gold aquillas / weapons completed on some models.
additional GW Skull White on Vulkan.

Any plans to use a few washes on them for depth?
Thanks and yes - after I get the rest of the gold on, paint up the random wires, eye lenses, other details and purity seals.. I plan to drybrush highlight selected areas with GW Scorpion Green.. and then hit em with some washes (maybe Thraka Green and Devlin Mud). Looking forward to that because yes, as of right now - they are bit bright and cartoony for my liking.
Chugging along..
Finished the first layer of GW Burnished Gold on Terminator Thunderhammer / Storm Shield details.
Completed One squad of bolt gun detail with GW Boltgun Metal..
And GW Red Gore for Purity Seal seals.
Whoa.. it's been a while since I've updated in my 'daily' Do One Thing thread - though I have been doing something hobby related each day, I've haven't gotten around to taking any pics of anything really.
I will do so tonight but in the meantime (because of Salamander Burnout) I'll share two things that I've worked on during this blackout..
An Ork Nob that specializes in Kommunications. WIP with Ammo Runt and Looted Cadian Helmet and Marine Combat Knife.
Final Nob.
and an Ork Rokkit Jeep.

Subject: Projekt: DOT by DX3 - Salamanders (special guests, Orks!)
1. Crimson Fist Bikers - sprayed with Army Painter Navy Blue.
2. Another quick coat of GW Regal Blue brushed on, GW Red Gore for the fists and GW Adeptus Battelgrey for the wheels.
3. First touches of detail on the captain - but I think I'm going to paint over the gold with a GW Boltgun Metal or similar..
I've got a bit of Army ADD as of late - two nights ago I worked on a my Orks Speed Freaks Army and put together a FW Warboss on Bike (pics to follow)..
Last night, I worked on my Emperor's Children CSM - counts as Blood Angels (pics to follow also)..

In a pre-game interview I asked my friend that plays Nids what he thought would happen and he immediately said Abaddon would wipe them out.
Seems as if he was right...

I'm rethinking the Big Mek - I think he's going to need some kind of bionic legs and/or a wheel chair and/or a mek-like platform to roll around on to support the weight of his KFF. (though-in-progress)
Looted Land Raider Battlewagon - chopped to be in line with current Battlewagon size.
Forge World Ork Warboss on bike w/ Crimson Fist Banner and attack squig in hand!

Thanks for the praise on my Orky Waaagh!
Switching it up to try and put some more paint on my Crimson Fist Bikers I'll be taking to Dakkacon (only 1000 points worth).
DId the pipes and bolters with GW Boltgun Metal.
The hubs on the wheels in GW Blazing Orange to show off 6th Company Pride!

And the Waaagh! continues.. getting the vehicles up to speed
Looted and Chopped Land Raider as a Battlewagon.
A nice blurry picture of a Jeepin' Ork with Rokkits.
And another nice blurry pic (booo!) of the Wagon, three rokkit buggies and a crew of Burnas.
More pics to follow tonight..
Been trying to experiment on rusting and weathering techniques,
I grabbed some weathering power and am going to give that a try on these vehicles.

You must be some kind of machine sir, because I would go bonkers if I looked on my project table and saw so much blue. I'd probably start twitching or frothing from the mouth or something.
Probably both.
I've always wanted to paint some Crimson Fists though, I love their color scheme, and their backstory is really intense. I can't wait to see all those bikes come together when done. It'll be mind-boggling.
I definitely dig the Crimson Fists and their story - the army I've collected is comprised of the bikes, scouts, only a few tacticals, one dread and sternguard with combi-meltas. When I get back around to them, maybe I'll do a shot of the whole army.
On to the Waaagh! Re-did the Big Mek with his Kustom Force Field - I was going to use the old school metal deff dread legs on this guy at first, but decided to use a bit from Kromlech.
Started on the Deff Dread (that will be offering his services to protect the Gretchin who will be clutching to any objective they have been instructed to hold.
Used IG Valkyire Spotlight bits for his eyes.. he will be kitted out with max close combat arms.
Maybe I should take a day off from work to finish the army.. haHA!
Here is the latest from the Dread and Kans.
Deneb Stone / Ultramarine Blue Checkers,
Some areas of Tin Bitz with a spongy / dry brushed Boltgun Metal.
Probably going to wash it with a watery mix of a rusty red/orange type color (don't know yet) - and Devlan Mud.

So, after two sleepless nights in a row - I did finally get around to getting my army to the table top in a reasonable standard for the St. Valentine's Day Massacre at Showcase Comics in Media, PA. Halfway to the event I realized I forgot my display board (doh!) and had to purchase a large picture frame from Sears (luckily on sale for $7.99)!
I ended up taking home a trophy for Best Converted Army - WooHOO! And received a great Kustom Build Mechanicum Administrative type building / trophy.
As usual, it was a great event with lots of GREAT, unique terrain elements (looted sky shield landing pad, and crashed thunderhawk gunship.. um, yes!).
I will follow up with closer-up shots of the individual units when I get to unpacking the army.

Haven't updated this blog in a while - haven't been able to do much lately but wanted to share some closer pics of the army I took to St. Valentine's Day Massacre earlier this year.
TrukKan Boyz
Deff Dread charged with protecting the Grot objective holders.
DemetriDominov wrote:My brain is overloading from the sheer mass of stuff you have. So many dreads, so many bikes, so many Orks. So much green and blue... dear lord you need to do a battle report using all of your stuff sometime, it'll be epic!
Ha! Yes, my brain is overloading from all the stuff I have also.. I need a system to just get things done and then move on to the next project (which is what I thought I could accomplish here). Maybe I'll give it another try..
Latest work on Eldar Nightwing Interceptors - for an upcoming Flyers Dogfight at my local GW this Saturday and an Apocalypse game at the end of the month.
A Firestorm WIP to keep other pesky fliers off our back..
500pt Eldar Escalation Army WIP

Participated in a Flyers / Skimmers only event at my local GW over the weekend.. Biel-tan showed up in force.
Ace status for flyers/skimmers would be achieved by downing five enemy units with one 'life' (not being blown out of the sky yourself). If you did get downed, you came back next turn.. only one flyer was an ace that day (an IG Vulture). Clouds and distance moved provided cover saves - and both my Cobras went nuclear Apocalyptic Explosions of 25 inches when they exited the fight (and I decided not to bring them back).
Playing chicken with IG..

Switching to Chaos Space Marines - painting up a Hellbrute for a Emperor's Children Warband I've got.
A little kitbashing (from all kinds of boxes) and primed white:
Put down the GW Warlock Purple and found a better Noise/Speaker Box for his arm.
And where I stand as of last night - A purple wash, burnished gold, emperor's children pink on the banner.
I started going over a few areas in Genestealer Purple.. more to come tonight.

Sporadic Update Incoming!
Welp! Finally got around to "finishing" this Hellbrute..
I wanted to extend out the sonic arm / weapon a bit more - maybe using a chopped up Heavy Bolter or Tau Rail Gun or something.. but never did. And something about his head just isn't right to me, maybe I need to recess it more into the sarcophagus. Anyway, this is as done as this piece is going to get! On to the next one..
** Bonus Lamenter Marine "Death or Glory'd Edition" **
I wanted to do some 'extrem-ish' chipping and this was my first crack it. Enjoy!
