I decied to model up 3 new shiny Deff Rollers for my 3 stolen landraider/battlewagons and I was happliy rolling over a Space Wolf force when my opponent asked if he got saves? I said yes you get saves. Looked up the codex entry and it only specifies d6 str 10 hits. I do admit I find it odd that Str 10 allows saves but for only 20 points it's worth it to me. My SW opponent swears that he's been hit before and they didn't allow saves. So I ask does it allow armor saves or ignore armor? and where is this posted if it exists.

Yes saves are allowed.

They don't even have an AP.

I would think that being crushed by a spiked steamroller would tend to flatten any armour, given that it flattens tanks whole..

I would have made them AP2 myself, but them i'm the one using them

Yes. They are not assigned a AP value, therefore you get a save.

true, so you don't get the minus 1 on the damage rolls. Also, deffrolla would need to cost more if they had an AP, lol.

Causing damage with tankshocks is already a great ability, really no need for more.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

It's hilarious when you run over a unit and they just re-inflate afterwards, cartoon style, with no damage done

I alway imagine a marine-shaped hole in the now leveled terrain after it got back up from getting run over.

they don't get FnP unless they're T6+ (and there are a lot more models with T6+ and FnP in 5th)

Yeah that's one. The Great Unclean One is the other one.

You could add Talos Pain Engine and Chronos Parasite Engine to the list, if they get off power from pain.

Thrakka, Mephiston and tyranid MCs can get FNP from other sources.

Makes a grand total of six outside of the tyranid codex, I'd hardly call that "a lot more".

... now go back before 5th ... how many were there? So including tyranids (who can cast catalyst) you have a lot more then you did.

No, you have a small hand full of rarely used or situational units, and all but the DE ones are unique. Even Tyranids can't have more than the number of Tervigons they field. Even when going from zero, seven isn't going to be "a lot", and at the very least something you need to consider when building your army.

...? seven? What about the hive guard? Elites + HQ ... that's 17 + 2 Tervigon that you've had as troop. Ok only 2 units a turn but they can be given it 3+ and FnP means Deffrollas not a sure fire way to kill them.

Most things that have T6 and FNP will more than easily be able to do a Death or Glory attack and smash your poor battlewagon.

Really? I hope everyone does this then. Out of the list I posted nothing but a catalysted carnifex has a higher chance to kill the battlewagon than killing itself. Not to mention an additional 1d6 S10 hits for the unit.

Tri:
Unclean One, Chapplain Cassius, two DE engines, Thrakka, Mephiston, Tervigon = 7. The tervigon can pass it's FNP on, but basically it's only one unit with FNP. Other than that, Deff rollas shouldn't tank shock MCs anyway because they auto-dodge and will destroy it next turn by simply assaulting it. Many wounds+T6+armor save make 1d6 hits without an AP mostly useless, regardless of FNP.

The only MC that isn't fearless is the Nemisis Dreadknight,so he will need to pass a Morale.

Sorry should have quoted.I was referring to the bit in your last post about MCs auto dodging, because they are all fearless I assume was the reason?

I was simply pointing out that because the Dreadknight is not fearless,it doesn't auto dodge.

Yeah, but context is talking about tyranids, catalyst and deff rollas ignoring feel no pain. Why on earth would I be talking about a dreadknight?

That's why people say context is important. You don't post advice on how to use a dread knight in a tactics thread about tyranids either, do you?
