As you can probably tell from the title, I am converting a stormraven to a helicopter so it fits my iron hands army!

I have had a few thoughts, obviously no wings and blade/propeller/whatever-you-call-them on top and I am mounting the assault cannons on the underside which is easy enough. Any ideas of converting the rotors? And any other ideas are gladly welcome!

Oh, and there's one slight hitch, I have five hours on saturday to make it, nothing before and nothing after! D:

Sounds like an awesome idea. The rotors and airscrew should be quite easy to convert from plasticard and tubing. They will have to be very big though, considering the chibihawks size

Yes, plasticard sounds like a good idea! How many blades? I think three or four...

Yes, looks great! I'm planning on using LRC sponsons for the hurricane bolters cos they're bigger and better, but I'm not too sure where to put them! Or whatever missiles I decide to use! I have also been looking at toy helicopter rotors, but I can never tell what size they are from pictures! D:

Definitely 4 blades, and they'll have to big.

I considered this when building my Stormraven, but I didn't go with the idea, because I wasn't sure I could pull it off. I honestly think two smaller blades like a Vertibird would work better.

If you went for one central rotor each blade should be 30cm long at least, e.g. 15cm on either side of the centre. The hardest part would be making the mounting for the blades, but with appropriate rummaging, or bits, or a good toy it could look really cool.

Thanks, but I think i'll stick to the traditional helicopter! I've taken to car boot sales for a decent sized cheap toy!

If you didnt have the 5 hours on saturday deadline, i would have suggested waiting until warmill release their valkyrie conversion kit, Im pretty sure it could be adapted to a stormbird pretty easily. You can see some of the masters for it in their p&M blog on dakka.
