I have had this list written for a while in my brain and I wanted to see what people thought of it. I have come to believe it is unbeatable by an all-comers list.

Hmm, I wouldn't know what to think of it actually. Fire Warriors go down pretty darn easy, but you do have an awful lot of them... broadsides would provide some awesome anti-tank... but you have nothing to buffer the enemy with except those Fire Warriors, and that's just never gonna work out

Might be fun, certainly an interesting spam list, definitely wouldn't say it comes across as unbeatable though

Those Fire Warriors are going to go down pretty quick to template weapons (not to mention if something gets in to CC with them), and the Broadsides will attract the attention of every AT weapon on the board. Definitely not unbeatable.

Although if you added an Ethereal it would make for one of the most funny games ever played.

69 fire warriors at 1500 points is hardly unbeatable...broadsides would take the Anti tank fire, the fire warriors would take everything else...and with no transports most people can keep out of your range until they want to be in range.

I'm just seeing a blood-angel or similar CC army making sweet, sweet carnage-filled love to this army.

12 FW will dakka the everloving crap out of 1.33 MEQs at 30" (2.66 at Rapid-Fire). You'll kill ~8 marines a turn (plus a few obliterated by broadsides if they don't have better AT targets), for about 2 turns if you're lucky. In addition, you don't have any sources of markerlights, which will give you an additional dead marine/turn with bumping to BS5.

Also, unless your broadsides (Which, I notice, lack target locks so they'll each blow only 1 thing to hell each turn per squad) have only 3 targets with a pie-plate to shoot at, you'll be losing a lot of FW really quickly to templates with AP4+.

An IG army with any respectable number of LRBTs or basilisks will eat your FW for breakfast, and the lack of Shield Drones or Bonding Knives for your broadsides means someone tags you with a single lascannon out of cover and you're making an Ld 7 check to avoid one of your only 3 anti-vehicle squads from booking it off the table. If they tag you with 2 lascannons and you roll slightly below statistical average, you've lost ~240 pts of anti-tank weaponry.

If you really want to go with a FW gunline, I'd strongly suggest adding some Pathfiinders (Probably 1 squad at your points level) to give your FW a better chance at melting face with the rifles (And against GEQ units in cover), and a crisis team with TL Missile pods to take some of the responsibility for transport-busting off of the broadsides. If you're going to use your broadsides for rhino-popping, you need to ask yourself if you really need 3 of them to pop Av 11 with S10 Ap1 guns. If not, that's 80 points per squad you could use elsewhere.

In addition, if you're going to run Ld 7 FW outside of their comfy fish, give them an 'ui and a bonding knife. The 15 point price tag hurts, but prevents 1/6 of your gunline from fleeing and becoming a weak point to be attacked and exploited is worth every penny.

This army would look impressive as hell, but get flattened pretty quickly by most armies with a competent general.

/end rant

Imagine the feeling when you position your tanks, engines idling, landing gear deployed for a low profile, with firing solutions along a key bottleneck. Then some fether lands a dreadnought behind them in a giant heat shielded coke can.

I definitely agree that a Blood Angel or IG army would shred this army. Still, I'd love to see this on the tabletop

Los Angeles

Please let it be that you live in the Los Angeles area. Want to try your list out on DE? I won't change a thing (no tailoring) as you posited this gun-line as a list to take all comers.

Here's my 1500 DE list, if you can, and will meet me for a game.

For so many reasons, your list is a 4e anachronism that even back in 4e, would not have done well.

No Shield Drones on the XV88s.
No protection or Bonding on the FWs.
No TA on your 'El.
*ONE* Crisis Suit?!

In fact, I think it is so *under* thought, I wonder if you're simply trolling.

If you aren't, then the invitation is legit. Game Empire, Pasadena. Tuesday night is 40k night.

Yeah I would be fine using my ork all comers list against this. I run a footsloggers army with lobbas and lootas in the back field to lay down long range fire while da boyz run at you with cover by meks with KFF. With what you have there is no way you would be able to kill enough orks to stop me from hitting your line and chopping some heads.
