I need new suggestion on what brand of brushes to use because GW brushes are not cutting it anymore.

Be prepared to spend a couple bucks, but Winsor & Newton Series 7 brushes (I prefer the 'finest' type not the 'miniature' but thats personal preference) size 0 is good for general purpose mini painting and 000 for ultra fine detail. Make sure to pick up brush soap/cleaner, etc. too, its the only way to keep them in good condition long enough to see a return on your investment.

W&N are over priced. Rosemary & Co will last just as long for almost half the price. Same quality.

I got my W&N brushes for cheaper than the Rosemary & Co. brushes... just saying, would rather have the W&N personally, as from what I read the Rosemary & Co. brushes can be hit or miss at times.

I've got 10 or so R&C brushes and all of them are perfect. And if their W&N counterparts are cheaper, you got some deal.

Also, W&N only have 2 lines that I know people use for the hobby, R&C have at least 4 or 5 lines that work well for us.

Hm. I've never used any W&N brushes or other fancy artists brushes but I can tell you I've had a good experience using Army Painter brushes. I like them more than the GW ones anyway.

Hi i'm not a great lover of gw before we start but can i ask what you mean by not cutting it in wa respect..?? As ive used them for yrs and for the money they cost i find them and excellent brush if you treat them right..! I.E use proper brush soap cleaner and conditioner..! I have a range of Winsor and newton series 7 brushes but for the price 1 of these cost i could buy several gw brush .. Ok the gw may only last a year but for £3 from where i live £3 a yrs aint bad .. Do you reshape and repoint your brushes after your use plus do you store them the right way..

I use the following sizes and series:

Series 92 Size 4/0 $3.30 (red sable) (size not available from W&N)
Series 22 sizes 0 and 1(I use these the most) $8.00 & $8.58 (W&N prices: $8.75/$10.00)
Series 323 size 2/0(good brush for detail work) $5.36 (W&N price $8.29)
Series 33 size 3/0 $5.77 (W&N price $7.94)

As you can see Rosemary and Co. have a much larger selection, and much better prices for the same Kolinsky Sable. W&N just has the one line of Series 7 for hobby stuff, whereas R&C has about 20 different lines for different uses.

For eyeballs I use a Sakura Micron pen at .5mm and then use one of several different 10/0 brushes or an Army Painter Insane Detail brush.

Interesting, I'd never heard of them. I love my W&N series 7s, but they're pricey as hell. I'll look into Rosemary and Co, thanks for the tip.

No problem. I was directed to them from some video somewhere at some point. Helpful huh?

Personally the price offsets the cost of shipping and you get the bigger selection to choose from.
