I was wondering how to temp put models on the black bases they come with for painting before putting them on a resin base?

Don't.

Drill a hole in the foot, and shove a cocktail stick in there good and tight. Stick the other end of the cocktail stick in a styrofoam block. Add a dab of PVA or superglue if its a heavier model. Makes a handy painting er, handle. When the stick is removed, you have a hole for putting in the pin to pin it to the resin base.

Edit: I recently found a piece of foam from a DVD drive package that's sort of like open-cell foam. It self heals, been using it for months and it still takes holds cocktail sticked models like new.

A small dab of super glue.
Put in freezer after you've finished it then you should be able to just snap it off the base.
For more protection, run a sharp scaple blade around the glued foot to 'cut' the paint away from the base.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I put a pin in the foot, and stick them on a wine cork. I have a piece of 2x4 wood with holes drilled in it to hold the wine cork when I put down the mini.

Another thing to mention: the advantage to a cork, or something like it, is that you can place the mini offcenter, so that you can paint all the bits up in it's business that you couldn't reach if it's mounted on a base.
