Hello I have heard many times that people don't like to paint there miniatures cause they don't have the time so I have decided to offer my services for the price of not money, gold or your whole life savings but for the mear price of miniatures and box sets. Forgive my skepticism, but I'm a little bit of a grammar... aficionado. Proper punctuation is a must if I'm to trust anyone with making me a hotdog, much less trusting them with models. Its not an elitism thing, more of a "does this person have it together enough for me to trust them" thing. Your post is a bit sloppy, and the first sentence just sounds like someone trying to fast talk me. It's about three sentences worth of words, running on into a verbal half marathon.

Most people will also want more than one picture.
Mere details, but most people prefer caution with their minis.

A cool idea if you can be trusted. If I was you I'd spend more than 2 minutes on my post and provide several (if not more) examples of my work.

I had a friend who used to do that. He would paint other peoples minis in return for their unwanted minis, spare bits, etc.

You really should post pictures of what you can do before expecting to get anything.

It has a potential to be a working model, if done correctly.

For example, a send 2 or 3 boxes of minis and get 1 back deal could work. Of course, I would want to stab whoever sent me starter kit minis since they are so cheap in value for the amount of work to paint them. IoB skaven for example would make me want to drink my own paint water to paint a ton of those for a tiny amount of value.

Without examples of work however not likely to get many bites, also there is a post over in the swap shop for commission painters (like myself and Brother SRM) to post out our painter for hire ads.

I really don't see this as a system that would ever work unless you were meeting the person. That is, were a physical person, anchored in reality, with an ass to kick or haul into small claims if things go wrong. Instead of a internet Kaa hissing "Trusssssst meeeeee".

How do we know that you won't renege on the deal. This trust thing is a two way street.

Arrange a meeting place, preferably a clearing in the woods, else a bridge or an old factory.

That's actually very close to my policy.
I usually also use my darth vader or optimus prime voice morpher mask to hide my identity and insist that they "come alone".
I then show up with either my red fx lightsaber/ Jedi riot baton or my Megatron gun, again dependent on how I feel that day.
The deals generally go smoothly, but if it goes sour I'm well prepared to either shockingly reveal their true parentage or transform and roll out.

I see how trust is an issue here I have them also cause now and than people scam you and I don't scam anybody. This could actually work. For one of my customers who owns a store, I paint his models for the price of a few miniature boxes (normally he sends 2 of the same box, one for me, one to paint for him and I get discounts at his store).

What's wrong with a child (assuming he is) painting your models? I'm 17 and I have been doing commission work since I was 14. Please check my website in my signature if you do not think minors are capable of commission work?

I don't think that minors aren't capable.
I think that they aren't LIABLE.
As in, there is almost nothing I could do if they decided to try and screw me for any reason. It's contract labor, and minors are not contractually liable.

The grammar issue is a three pointed thing. It shows either a lack of caring, attention to detail, or education. None of those is something that garners a huge amount of confidence. I like people who do detail oriented miniature painting work for me to know how to pluralize mini into minis.

You need more than that to convince people Baron. I am not saying you are telling fibs. Just that there is little evidence and people have been fleeced so others are wary.

I might be a bit slow sometimes but... If your going to paint minis for minis... the person sending you said minis would have to buy them correct?..why not just take money? unless your are accepting peoples old dusty piled up bitz bins.

I myself have started the painting for profit in my neck of the woods. My skills have grown incredibly in the past year((although my camera skills are not proof of that haha)), and have had so much support from the guys at our local shop, as well as other stores who actually paint armies on the side. Saying all that, i still would not take a hand full or bits..or a box or two of minis for the hours upon hours put into painting.

Reading this, and calling upon my considerable powers of memory, I was conflicted from the first line.
"No he's not. Why is he saying that? He said in other posts that he was older than that."
As I pressed on, my incredulity was piqued even more.

But seriously, one blurry picture does not a gallery make. Maybe find a guy with a camera, and paint some of his models in exchange for getting some pictures taken? Going the opposite direction from the "are you a minor" line of questioning, I'd like to go into the issue of "What 35 year old does not have the liquidity of funds to purchase a camera, or possesses a phone that does not have one integrated?"

Back on topic with intent to help the OP, all of this silliness and doubt can be avoided with more pictures. If you don't own a camera, I'll bet you the cost of a camera that you could literally walk outside and throw a rock past 3 cameras. Doesn't have to be fancy, just need a steady hand or a pile of books. My entire gallery is shot from a cameraphone.
But even a modest attempt would advance your efforts by leaps and bounds.

There are multiple problems with that though. Two main ones, really. I'm not trying to degrade you or put you down at all, or claim you as untrustworthy. I AM trying to bring you around to the idea that most people are uncomfortable with taking someone at their word over the internet.
The first concern is: Just who is Roger3637? I've never met him, and he has even less posts than you do (16 of them). That could be you, even. I could sign up for another account and have 16 posts on it in less than ten minutes. You have to get a little more of a reference.
The second: Roger has four pictures in his gallery (nice clear pics). But if they were painted by you, there is a problem. They aren't painted well.

If they weren't painted by you, but you know Roger, get Roger to come take pictures for you. He's got a nice camera.


You have to go the extra mile to prove your worth, because the internet is a huge place with many, many other options for people looking to get their minis painted. Just throwing your name out there as an option doesn't count, or at the very least won't get you noticed much.
Here is a colorful example. Pretend you're on a desert island, dying of thirst (thirst for money). You decide to put a message in a bottle, casting that message into an ocean which is made entirely of other bottled messages. There exists a greater than zero chance that someone will notice the message and come to save you with their money, but that chance is very very close to zero. You need some flares and a giant pile of rocks saying "save me" on the beach. Or the non metaphor equivalent, which is pictures and a reference that has some chops around here.
