Hey guys and gals, im currently working on painting my empire army as i have a doubles tourney coming up in a couple of months, anyway i thought I'd post a couple of pics of what I've done so far. erm it may look like a fair bit but i have like nearly 140 men in this army so progress is slow, but i thought I'd show what ive started any tips, advice or comments are more than welcome I'd love to know what people think or what could be improved etc

half my swordsmen unit pretty much done

Converted General on Griffon
(thought id show this as painting progress as its a interesting model to paint and could really find a good painting guide for this model)

First stages on wing

Finished wing effect

Batch painting method for my swordsmen

and finally my steamtank, ive done a fair bit more on this model basing it and finishing shields etc but not got round to sorting out photos

hopefully ill be posting my progress most days so i hope you follow along and give me any advice/tips/thoughts. if you have any questions about my painting methods or anything please feel free to ask

If you are interested in how i am painting the griffon feathers the starting colours are scorched brown, and dheneb stone then washed with devlin and highlighted denheb and then white with drybrushing anyway enjoy hope to get some comments

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

I hate it how the Nordlanders look like the Swedish.
Except your models... they look awesome.

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
No, just Nurgle and Slaanesh, Jesus will be sold seperately in a blister.

Some Updates on my progress been working primarily on my general on griffon today really pleased with hows he is coming along

Should point out i am redoing a couple of the feathers on the bottom as wash pooled a bit to much

Some more Progress on my swordsman complete with half finished warrior priest

My great swords i started ages ago but i thought i'd show you them anyway

and a slightly updated pic of my steam tank again

As i said very pleased with the griffon so far with any luck will have him finished tomorrow, if anyone can think of a way to paint the lion bit i'd appreciate it cause i'm stumped
also and advice on doing the empire shields cause they just don't look quite right in my mind or banner idea for the great swords think i may redo it completely tbh
and finally any idea on how to shrink images slightly seem a bit large

I really like the Warrior Priest.
Btw, if you look at the 4th last picture, on the very left the shield of the guy has a diffirent yellow than the others.

I LOVE the griffon conversion, I might have to do that myself someday! Really nice army so far mate, I love the snow bases - I think they help the paint scheme by standing out (a brown/mud base would take away from the model IMHO).

Thanks guys , yeah I'm super pleased with the Griffon tbh i did green stuff him as a admiral originally to go with the whole nordland theme but my green stuffing isn't great so scrapped that idea lol, a surprisingly easy conversion in the end, still not entirely sure on the cloak but thats easy enough to change later, but yeah its mainly a mix of great swords bits and i think the arm with the hammer is from the hand gunners sprue but with an old dwarf hammer i found (possibly from skull pass box i think)

Ah yeah the shield on the left is a brighter mix, he was the first one i did fully as like a test, might bring them all up to that colour but i'm undecided. I like the warrior priests although neither are quite finished yet the army itself will have 4 when its completely done Might even try to convert a war alter at some point and get a 5th.

Have to admit the snow bases wasn't my idea was gonna just do normal, but my mate who i am going to the doubles with (doing ogres with a frosty blue skin) wanted to do snow and so i thought be cool to match and tbh it does work well with the colours i must admit
