Would it be crazy and/or imbalanced to put a Terminator, a single Terminator mind you, into a Tactical Squad so that they could fire their heavy weapon and move at the same time? I wouldn't change any rules that govern Terminator movement and the Squad would of course be limited by it. It would also restrict their transport options.

Can't Space Wolves do this?

I don't see anything crazy about it, honestly.

Well, if you can justify spending 70 points on a model...

IMO, it would be better to make it an upgrade option for the Vet sgt., to try and lower the points cost some.

7500pts. 1750pts. 1500pts. 2000pts. 11000pts.

I hadn't heard that SW could put a Terminator clad marine into a Tac squad...

@ Nocturn - that's a good idea considering the vet already has the stat line minus the armor...and he's already able to take a power fist or sword...actually, that's a real smart plan!

I assume you would also be limiting the weapons available to Terminator weapons, yes? Like assault cannons and cyclones. I wouldn't be onboard with lascannon toting Termines, I have to say.

Probably...I might go for the main cannon of the Baneblade as well...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
What could also be done would be to disallow Devastators to be fielded in a force that has TactiTermies...that would limit the heavy firepower on the table and maybe make lascannon termies more palatable as there could be, at most, six on the table at once...

...Do you mean you want to put a termie in the tactical squad to pass the terminators relentless onto the tacticals?

It doesnt work like that. Models in TA have relentless. The heavy weapon model in the tac squad isnt in termie armour, so doesnt get relentless.

I'm aware of that, and no, I didn't mean what you think I meant. The Terminator in the Tac squad has the heavy weapon. The Terminator in the Tac squad IS the vet Sergeant, otherwise there would be two vets in the squad. I was talking about the one Terminator disallowing a sweeping advance...

I thought they could upgrade to a pack leader in a grey hunters squad in tda. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't play SW that often and don't own the codex.

You're right, don't worry. Pack Leaders can have Terminator Armour and join Power Armoured units such as Grey Hunters (Tac equivalent) and Blood Claws.
Again, he doesn't confer relentless to the rest, just restriction of sweeping advance.

So there is a precedent! Now to give that Sergeant a heavy weapon...

Personally, for codex marines I'd prefer to see the 3rd edition suspensors (from the deathwatch squads) rule brought in for them, i.e. heavy weapons can be fired as assault weapons but with their range halved.

(give tacticals this and a melee weapon and they'd be right where I want them to be unit wise as the most flexible unit in the game).

Sorry I'm not following, are you saying Grey Hunters are already the most flexible unit in the game or what?

I was slightly sarcastic but yes, given a rhino and a meltagun, wolf banner, motw and wolf guard with fist, they are extremely flexible, nasty in cc, great shooting, mobility.

Gotcha, and I basically agree, I just think that title ought go to bog standard Tactical marines.
