Hey everyone, hows life?
Im relatively new to 40k, although not to war-gaming, and I am working on my first army (tyranids). Ive had my first kit for quite a while now (one of those 8 hormogaunts/8 termagaunts/ 1 ripper swarm packs). Basically, I used those models for painting practice, so I would paint then strip then paint then strip... One day, though, I accidentally used a really glossy, oily and thick primer (just spraypaint). At the time, I thought it wouldnt be a big deal, so I painted over it anyway. Now, I am a much better painter, and have assembled the bulk of my army and EVEN settled on a colour scheme. So, over the last week Ive worked hard at stripping this glossy, oily, thick paint and the nasty overcoat of dollerama acrylic white. Ive tried two types of pine-sol and some other products, but the outcome is always a sticky mess of poop, no matter how long I let them sit in the solvant. I realise there might not be a whole bunch of info out there (cept` for telling me what product to use), but if anyone has a technique or tips for stripping really oily spraypaint, I will be much in dept to you...

Thanks everyone!

Brake fluid?

Does that really work?

Does it cause any damage to the plastic?

Need more 's in my life!

I had the same problem. I used a glossy spray-paint on my BT way back when. However it was so damn thick it hid all detail.

If you can find it use La's totally awesome

Worked liked a charm.

Do not dilute it. Use it straight out of the bottle. Soak the mini's for 24-48 hours.

OK, thanks a lot... yeah, I know what you mean about the reduced detail.
