Bring back the ork choppa rule, but modify it such that it adds +1 to the armour save. Therefore 3+'s become 4+'s.etc. This avoids the flawed logic of the previous choppa rule, where guardsmen with flak armour weren't affected at all, while terminators became vulnerable (NB- all models with an armour save of 6 lose their armour save when wounded by a choppa).
On a different yet similar subject, orks should be 8 to 10 points and be bumped up to strenght 4.

4 strengh 4 attacks on the charge for 6 points is a deal a mob of 30 boyz plus nob put out 120 attacks most of the time half will hit and wound.

Having to take 30 armor saves ruins most folks day. And yes I know its extremely rare to get all 30 boyz into combat and in fighting range but you get my point.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all.

Not really.. The mob will get shop before CC, they will not go first, the full mob of 30 will almost never get all there attacks, as well the 4 attacks only applys for slugga boys when the more popular choice is shoota boys for a large mob.

I agree about not going first and against in certain match ups the boyz will take alot of wounds before they strike.

But I do feel its not unherd off to get untouched mobs of 30 into combat most opponents seem to try and destroy the leading mobs/ kanwall first and theres always more boyz.

Do Shoota boys have choppas?

TBH I think the only way for this not to be overpowered, would be too ignore 6+ save, and MAYBE 5+. Otherwise you would have to increase the points of each ork.

If the choppa rule were to return, then the current furious charge would be removed (as that was supposed to compensate for the loss of the choppa rule in the new codex). It is odd how orks are as tough as genetically and bionically enhanced super humans, the models themselves hve arm muscles considerably larger, if not triple then certainly double the size of a guardsman's, yet are still only as strong as a guardsman.

I also mentioned earlier that the points of each Ork would be increased from 6 points.

The old choppa rule in the last codex stated that the the most an armour save against an ork with a choppa could be was 4+. So a space marine gets a 4+ armour, termies get 4+, and anybody 4 and above wouldn't be affected at all. For only 9 pts an ork boy back then it was a steal. Ah the good old days where choppas were awesome and everyone could carry rokkits include runtherders. Oh and burnas used to have 2D6 penetration for tanks and still counted as power weapons in cc.

Oh.I have a rulebook for I believe 4th ed,but I am not sure, because it came with Battle for Maccragge, and has a pic of a SM Sgt going Hulk or Nids.It details a CCW called a Heavy Close Combat Weapon.Same rule.

Yeah the Heavy Close Combat Weapon rule (and the 3rd edition choppa rule it was cribbed from) was bad, any flat change to another units stats is generally unbalanced as its impacts varies wildly.

That said even though Armour save modifiers are fine I'm not in favor of reintroducing them as random army special rules. And Orks as they are are more then adequately good in close combat.

I like the WHFB choppa rule, and think it would work great in 40k. That is in the first round of combat anyone with a choppa gets +1S. That gives boys S5 on the charge or S4 if charged.

I would like to see something for a choppa rule, make slugga boys worth taking again.
