I go to a club where nobody really runs tournament lists, everybody there is there for fun. I play grey Knights and Imperial Guard, whenever I go against our Tyranid player I never use the instant death caused by my GK because I feel I already have a stupidly good advantage. Does anybody think instant killing monstrous creatures is a tad OP?

Yes. Like everything else GK at the moment.

Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it. |

It's some unneeded nerf to Nids, really. Although I would find it hilarious to take one of the Huskblade/Soultrap Archons against someone with a lot of MC's and just have him rampage around.

yes its terribly OP. "Oh look your 200+ point 6 wound 3+ save monstrous creature? O im sorry my 22 point model killed it in one hit" whats not OP about that? Gray knights have a crazy advantage against nids. nids really dont have a counter to purifiers. swarms = death by clensing flame. monstrous creature = force weapon death. genestealers = some crazy grenade that just kills you. so in short yes, OP

Is it really that much more OP than 250+ point land raiders being one-shotable?

All grey knights are terrible. One word for you "assassins" 4d6 penetration rendering the best armour possible useless, flames and a psychic skill that makes you strength 5 with a force weapon :-/ no nid army can possibly win

Yes it is. Because the average grey knight can't touch a land raider. Monstrous creatures are supposed to be like tanks; almost impervious to small arms attacks. So for a grey knight to be able to instant death a living tank, without the ability to scratch the paint on a LR, is over powered. Plus there are no shooting weapons (ignoring psychic powers), that can ID an MC.

I'm assuming that GK can't take meltabombs, powerfists, or thunderhammers?
PraetorDave wrote:Plus there are no shooting weapons (ignoring psychic powers), that can ID an MC.
The number of shooting attacks that can ID a landraider is far greater (in terms of availability) than the number of melee attacks that can ID a Monstrous Creature.

Thats not the point, anything can be countered, the op is highlighting the fact that the nids, an already under represented army, is basically screwed against everything grey knights have.

As a Thousand Sons player, I really don't have any solution for the 3-4 MC swarm that Tyrannids send against me other than Force Weapons. All Grey Knights having force weapons = OP. Force weapons insta-killing MC = Not OP.

You have what, 1 per squad, than maybe on your hqs aswell? Grey knights have force weapons sticking out their ears, purifiers, psybolt/flame ammo, psyc out grenades etc that ALL give nid players a headache.
I have no force weapons in ANY of my armies, but I can still beat nids, without ruining the nid players day

Right. The problem isn't Force Weapons, it's Grey Knights.

Most armies will have 1 force weapon, 2 at the absolute most. It's just a matter of them being so prevalent in GK lists. Grey Knights are ironically better at fighting Tyranids than Daemons.

I don't think it's OP, grey knights are condensed so they have to have some strong units. Maybe that's just my logic.

That was a lot more than one word.
And that word is "Malapropism". The word is Rending. Each 6 rolled does not make the image sharper nor create yummy hotdogs for you.

OP here, Shadow in the warp makes me botch so many psychic tests, however I play with Draigo (for the lulz), a libby, and a big group of paladins. I have so many chances with all these units alone to pass one or two tests I don't even care if the majority don't pass. I see why the army seems to stupid, but they are supposed to be hyper elite. I think it would be better if all GK's had power weapons, and some of the higher up could ID. Kinda like the Old codex, but a little different.

Terminators can take them, not a bad buy for them either. Get an IC in the squad for hammerhand and you are set.

Better, get a libby in and cast quicksilver and Might of Titan!
Force weapon does suck for nids, not so much for everyone else now that there's so many Eternal Warriors.

my question is what can a tyranid player do now? they nerfed them to hell in all the FAQ's and what can you do against 2 or 3 dreads in the back shooting st 8 ap 4 auto cannons at you and a wall of force weapons infront of them? when you get in charge range thats were nids normally excel but with all the grenades keep you from doing nearly anything then you get hit with cleansing flame and by this point your "assault" is now either attacking it's self or standing there with 3 models. the only real build i run against gray knights is 2 or 3 tervagons, as many genestealers as i can, hive guard, zoeys, and trigons. i have a harder time fightin GK than any other army. truthfully i love playing against almost any other marine army (except space wolfs....) because their is some kind of counter that i have. so theres my raint on why i think GK are OP against nids.

Outflank Genestealers and rip them to shreads.
With GK,you just have to play coldly and clinicly, making sure the destruction of the biggest threat is done before moving on.SitW from range can pop more GK heads than usual.Normal all there is is a Libby or Wierdboy.
