Hello all, as i am thinking of buying one of the big toys, i would like to know if it would be possible fluff wise that BA chapter would own a WH titan? I do sux with the fluff so thank you a lot for all the help. ~BT

I don't think Astartes chapters can own a titan but they can certainly be closely allied with a Legio that supports them when needed.

They won't own a titan.
However titans that have fought extensively may bear some BA imagery in honour of their time together...
And when you get down to it. There are only so many colours you can paint a walking 45 foot death machine...
Red can be so common in a totalitarian theocratic dictatorship in a constant sate of war...

Yeh sorry, but Titans belong to their own "chapters", the Titan Legions. The Blood Angels could never own one, but could be assigned one by the Adminstratum

It would be the Mechanicus since they control the Legio Titanicus...

I have some background fluff for my Warhound Titan and why it fights with my Space Marine chapter.
Basically, my Marines have a empire similer to Ultramar, located deep in the Galactic core.
They get their supplies from the only Forge World for hundreds of Lightyears and in exchange for protection, the Chapter and Centromar Auxilia(Centromar being the name of the sub-empire) are the only Imperial forces in the immediate area as the Navy and IG simply don't have the manpower to patrol the region, they basically have several Titans from the Forge's small Legion at the back and call of the Chapter. Its an reqest for aid that will never be refused as an Honor pact.

The only "chapter" who ever owned a titan was the Thousand Sons legion... thy Pyrae cult (the ones who psychically controlled knight titan like automatons) were gifted one by the mechanicum for being so awesome. Not sure what happened to it. That being said, the mechanicum kinda hates the BA for withholding the STC for the lucifer pattern engines. I highly doubt they would lend a warhoud to the chapter, plus they wouldnt really have the means to control it. Kinda need a princeps for that, or have psychic abilities that only the thousand sons developed somehow being in your BA/BA successor. In closing.. GO FOR IT!! MY TIGERSHARK LOVES TITANS!!!!!

a Princeps is just a person trained with the neural interface. Warhounds are actually controlled with buttons and some minor Neural linkage not 100% neural linkup.
a Techmarine could probably hook up an Astartes sized interface quite easily.

Don't know what origin story it got elsewhere, but in A Thousand Sons it's pretty heavily implied the leader of the Pyrae just looted the thing off the battlefield and got away with it by virtue of being Astartes, not that the Mechanicum actually awarded it to him. A Remembrancer's narration even comments on how claiming a fallen Imperial war machine as a trophy seems in bad taste. And

If this argument is trying to run against the ABILITY of a SM to run a Warhound I submit that SM already have the tech in the fo or dreadnoughts. You are telling me in 10,000 years no tech marine has looked at a dreaddie looked at a Titan and went, " you know I reckon in my 3-400 year life span I could build one 'o those"

Actually they are taller than that, in IA III, it said 15m at rest, when the cockpit is resting on the leg, so probably more like 60-70 feet.
And i agree.

Just make up a titan legion who do not follow traditional formation rules, instead they are split into fireteams who accompany the 3 local chapters of Astartes. They all have the same basic pattern of decoration, but feature one section painted in the colours of the chapter they are currently attached to, and that their princeps is awarded honorary Chapter Membership and the rank of something like "Astartes Pilotum" so they can join in all those rituals in a limited capacity, and it's all very fun and fluffy, even have your marines refer to the crew as "brother".
The longer the titan is attached to the chapter; the more ornate the decoration.

Soul Hunter disagrees. It's Princeps was fully linked. Unless I'm remembering wrong and it was a Warlord, but that would be silly.

And then that techmarine and that chapter would then be beat up by the Mechanicus and the rest of the Astartes, the seperation of power was designed to stop such things and loyalist marines honour it.

Simple answer is that not only would it be forbidden by the post-Heresy reforms dividing up the Space Marines, Titan Legions and Imperial Guard and Navy, but it would be against the nature of the Astartes, trained and indoctrinated to get into the thick of battle, to want to be ensconced in a titan's control cabin pressing buttons miles from the action.
Also, a Space Marine Chapter with battle titans would be just a bit 'special snowflake'. Why not just use one of the established Titan Legions - the Iron Skulls, for instance, seem to have a long history fighting alongside the Blood Angels, and even use approximately the same colours - or just make up one of your own and place their forge world close to Baal?
