Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

There are a lot of rumors floating around about what happened in our game. Up until now only 2 people knew.

Here is what happened:

Are there?

Seems a little dull to be honest. Also it's a pity none of the armies are painted.

I wonder what you mean when you say that neither army is panted.

It is a green army vs. a red army.

I have to admit, I was expecting you to get cleaned up in that game. Anyways, it sounds like you played an excellent game in an unfavourable situation.

Grats on second Blackmoor. Definitely an anti-climatic match if I've ever read one haha

When I heard about how that game went down from Stelek I kind of laughed to myself and said "There should be an award for the most anti-climactic 40K match".

Then again, I think I would probably have gotten that when I failed to assault with 3 units of Grey Hunters and a pack of Thunderwolves all in the same turn...

You played good, but I can't help but think your opponent was WAY too defensive. I mean, even by turn 2 you didn't have that much on the field still.

If I were him, I would of been all over you with those ridiculous amounts of Razorbacks and TWC to swamp your trickling in units and increase my board control.

Way to be! Who cares if the game wasn't exciting, you made Stelek eat crow!

You da man, Blackmoor.

I do not know Stelek in person so I can not judge him about his attitude. I did look at his list carefully and understood what his goals where in using that list. He must have known that there plenty of GK army lists popping up in the tournament (plus other armies that have psykic abilities). Kind of Gutsy actually. If I had this list I would have dropped one scout squad and 3 melta's in the GH troops and added 3 flamers plus 1 Rune Priest and make Blackmoor work on those psykic tests

I run a Balanced Bolter Back SW Army. IMHO Stelek relied too much on his Long Fangs for his long range firepower and melta's to pop heavy Armored vehicles at short range. Bolter Backs are very good for what they do via point costs but as with any list there has to be a balance with it. I also run one to two Rune priests as well, depending on the size of the army of course.

I am not a firm believer in using that many melta's as shown on Stelek's list. I want long range killing firepower and lots of it and it will be in equal amounts of Las Cannons/H. Bolters (as much as possible). This is the way I always make my SW list. I'll let my infantry models deal with my opponent's infantry models.

There is also different playing style and lines of thought that are being posted through out the inter webs. People posting this thing and that thing and this is the right way to play this game for the win! But even I know that my play style is not the right one for many others. Everyone is different. I can only show people why I play in this manner with my list and learn from others on how they run theirs.

To me, the most dangerous opponent is one who can "think out of the box" and do it on the spur of the moment. It looks like to me that Blackmoor was the best general during that unusual game. I wondered what would happened if they would have swapped lists for fun? Now that would be interesting.

Adam's Motto: Paint, Create, Play, but above all, have fun. -and for something silly below-

"We are the Ultramodrines, And We Shall Fear No Trolls. bear this USR with pride".

Also, how does one apply to be a member of the Ultramodrines? Are harsh trials involved, ones that would test my faith as a wargamer and resolve as a geek?

You must recite every rule of Dakka Dakka. BACKWARDS.

Being an Ork player, I know how much un-fun it is to advance into the teeth of the enemy's guns, and wiffing the reserve rolls like that makes it even more tense. However, this battle report reinforces the lesson that you must keep up the pressure until the very end. I've won loads of battles in turn 5 or 6 because I didn't give up. Great battle report. Now I would love to see Stelek's version of how things went down. Too bad he's banned...

Stelek should put something up on his blog about it sooner or later.

What I want to know is what happened to him at the Invitational. I hope Stelek puts up the batreps of the 2 games he lost. He lost to Dash and his army looks like it will blow Dash out of the sky. Timmah also beat Stelek with a list nearly identical to Tony Kopack's with lot of larger Grey Hunter squads in rhinos. To bad after Timmah beat Stelek I had to crush Timmah's dreams of winning

Regardless of what happens, a win is a win. You simply outplayed him and kept out of sight of his guns.

Now the one issue I wanted to ask was the combat squads coming from reserves. I thought you could not according to the GW faq explaining combat squads.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

Well played. Shame you had crappy dice rolls for reserves. Psyrifle Dreads dominate Annihilation missions.

IMO, wolf scouts are hit and miss.

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, that was a problem. The INAT let's you do it, but the GW FAQs and the Nova open FAQ that prohibits it is under the Space Marines section and I never saw it.

It was a benefit to him to have me combat squad because then he only has to kill 5 paladins for me to lost those VPs for contesting table quarters.

If he knew about that rule he never said anything and I would not have done it. Oh well, mistakes happen and as I said, it had no impact on our game, and was more favorable to him for me to combat squad.

Nice report. The game was less thrilling than I thought since the blood toll was rather low.

By the way, when I read the report I thought you would let the Paladins arrive in turn 2; this is what I would have done no matter what.

Don't take that guy seriously, after all his rants about GKs not being able to compete due to lack of meltaguns and then he looses to a GK army plus most top armies are GKs... Guy is full of hot air, let him whine and make up excuses about how he lost to a better player.

Who needs Meltaguns when you can spam s7 assault cannons and twin linked s8 autocannons?

No kidding. The amount of str 8 autocannons shots is awesome. The fact that the assault cannons jump up to 7, are rending, and just so happen to fit into the GK 24" sweet spot makes for an intense time for just about anything in that range.
