Subject: Chaos marks and daemon weapons

A while ago at my FLGS I was watching a game of chaos v Eldar. The chaos player climed that since his lord of tzeench (4+ invol save) was in a terminator unit with the icon of tzeench the marks stacked and he retains a 3+ invol. This kicked off some flags for me to begin with b/c I started with chaos and have never heard of that. Then, we were discussing some things later and the conversation came to daemon weapons. He claimed that with blissgiver he was able to have a lord deal instant death to the nightbringer (a toughness 8 model). I asked how this was possiable b/c lords are s-4 and normally cant wound a t-8. He said that he not only has the blissgiver effect but gets +1 strength from it being a deamon weapon.
1- do marks and icons stack?
2- does a deamon weapon get whatever effect it gets from its mark, plus the bonus to strength that non marked daemon weapons get?

Pretre: Are repressors assault vehicles? If they are, I'm gonna need emergency pants.
n0t_u: No, but six can shoot out of it. Other than that it's a Rhino with a Heavy Flamer thrown on if I remember correctly.
Pretre: Thanks! I guess my pants are safe and clean after all.

He was wrong about Marks stacking they certainly do not stack. By his logic they couldn't stack anyway. The Lord has the mark and the squad has the mark. The lord does not benefit from the effect of the squads mark. This means that if you put a Slannesh lord in a Tzeentch squad he would not get the benefit of the +1 to invulnerable. So even if Marks stacked (which they don't) his logic still wouldn't work.
The Demon weapon he is correct about. It does give +1 Str for being a Demon weapon and the Blissgiver does state it causes instant death on any unsaved wounds. As the Nightbringer is only invulnerable to D-Cannons (due to it being a 3rd Edition Codex) the Nightbringer could be killed instantly by it, but it would take a lucky 6 to wound and the Nightbringer would have to fail his 4++ save.

Wrong. The chaos codex says the model gets +1 strength only if he has no mark of chaos.

Marks and Icons do not stack. It explicitly states that ICs do not get the benefits of Icons, and the unit cannot benefit from a mark.

Wrong. The chaos codex says the model gets +1 strength only if he has no mark of chaos.
So,in the caes of the mark+ DW,the model is Str4,so can't harm Nightbringer.
