I'm going to use the Big Squiggoth with the rules from IA 8 in a regular 1500 pt game (that's the smaller Squiggoth that can only transport 10 infantry). Since it doesn't mention a FOC slot, I'm going to count it as a Heavy Support.

Anyway, my question is, if the Squiggoth is being used to transport a unit of Nobz with a Painboy, does the Squiggoth benefit from Feel No Pain?

Or, if the Nobz can't give the Squiggoth FNP, what about using Mad Doc Grotsnik? Can a Monstrous Create have FNP?

What do you think?

No, as they are not the same unit. Same as putting them on board a vehicle desnt make them the same unit.

You could give the squiggoth a cybork body using Mad Dok.

does the squiggoth work as a vehicle, or a creature? I never played appoc. If it has vehicle stats though, they faq'd the dok to specify non vehicles.

It's a MC that has transport capacity. So, definitely yes to cybork body.

Cybork squiggoths? Well, that would be worth the cost of buying one from forgeworld.

But looking at it, point cost wise makes them a little more expensive than a standard DT. I would think running them as DT instead of HS would be a better fit.

As stated above, the mad doc can not give the transport FNP, this is because he has to join the unit to do so, and we know that you can not join single model units.

However, many MC's have or can benefit from FNP.
If you are playing apoc, and had renegade Blood angels with a Blood Chalice, the Squigooth would then benefit from FNP, since the Blood Chalice gives FNP to all units within 6" of it.

Hmm, so no FNP. Bummer, that would have been cool. The Cybork does sound good though. You know, I was thinking about making it a Dedictated Transport, but I wasn't sure if anyone would object. Would anyone here have a problem with using the Squiggoth as a Dedicated Transport? And if I took it as a Dedicated Transport to a unit of Nobz, does that then mean it's part of the unit, and hence would get FNP?

No. Dedicated transports are never part of they unit they transport.

The Big Squiggoth (as opposed to Gargantuan Squiggoth) is Heavy Support.

See the big unit list in IA:Apoc2. FYI, I thoroughly recommend IA:Apoc2, if only for the big list in the back which specifies force org slots for everthing (assuming it fits into a force org, i.e. not apoc) and which book has the current rules for everything.

It is Heavy Support. Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I do need to get the IA:Apoc 2 book. I've flipped through it and it seems really cool.

I think FW are releasing another updated Apoc book, hence all the updated formations/units available as PDFs with redacted parts on their website. Not sure if it is meant to clean up the messes between 1 and 2 or just throw some more mess into the fire.

Apoc is not designed to be a perfect game, with balance and competitiveness.

Don't think of it as a recipe to make a turkey dinner, instead think of it as a buffet; there is so much there that it doesn't all work with everything else but there is enough that everybody can find something they like. By adding more formations and special units, there is more that can happen.
