I was wondering what everything in the 40k universe eats. I know the Tyranids eat any sort of biomass (correct me if I am wrong) but that is about it. Does anyone know

Humans eat... well a lot of the time other humans i'd imagine. Though there are other foods availible but dead bodies have a tendancy to be recycled into a nutrient paste/muck for people to nom on when times get... difficult.
Orks eat pretty much whatever.
Not sure on the others...
There's a good description in Kill-Team of Tau food, though it doesn't actually say what they are.

Orks eat squigs and 'grow' them in a verity of forms, the Snakebite clan is especially talented at raising a variety of squigs.

I'm pretty sure that in some book or another it says that Kroot eat fallen enemies to gain thier strength. And I think other books reference some kind of cow like creature raised on some planets, I think it more depends on what planet they are on as to what they eat. I kinda recall that most space marines eat some kiind of nutrient paste thing, except space wolves who go all out in there feasts.

I've been told orks eat grots when their hungry.

I'm pretty sure that Orks will eat anything they can possibly fit in thier mouths.

What a post.... But great. Orks will eat grechins...sorry if that is spelled wrong, But they will eat them when all rations are out while on a whaagh. But that raises another question... would they roast them or baste them?

Then my friend has been giving me false facts about warhammer 40k. IF kroot eat anything whjat happens if they eat other kroot or tyranids or orks or just other tau.

Kroot= chicken
tryanids= same as eating bugs
orks=mushrooms
tau=seafood

Tau live on a planet with little to no water. They vehicles named after fish are imperial designations. They are omnivores who eat roots, herbs, and their indegenous meat, much like humans.

Humans: Vegetables and sometimes meat.
Tau: Vegetables and ,I guess, meat.
Eldar: Vegetables and ,I guess, meat.
Kroot: Fallen edible enemies.
Space Marines (including Chaos): Anything slightly edible. It's part of their perks.
Necrons: Nothing. They're robots.
Tyranids: All sort of xenos.
Orks: Xenos, squigs, grots, other orks, etc.

Yes Chaos marines need to eat, they eat normal food.

Daemons may or may not eat, no one really knows, but probably only souls.

Eldar probably eat things that humans would find repulsive, they must have a refined palette after thousands of years of life.

Orks eat...everything you can eat from fruits to dead Ork.
Eldars eat...some Eldar food.
Dark Eldar to.
Kroot eat everyone.
Tau eat...some Tau food.
Vespid eat...probably some plants and smaller bugs ( being insects and stuff ).
Humans eat like we today ( only the food it's not like McDonalds, but more like mash potato ).
Space Marines don't eat when in power armor, when not in it they eat like normal Humans ( only not that much ).
Adeptus Mechanicus workers eat electricity and Oil ( improvement over Necrons ).

Well that covers most of it...

The type of cow you reference is called a Grox. It's found on a lot of imperial worlds although mostly nobles/well off types have actual meat in their diets.

Funny you say that because I remember reading somewhere that when in battle and low on rations space marine power armour can recycle waste products and turn them into edible food. So basically they can eat their own crap.

I was joking that Tau would taste like seafood to Kroot. You know what with the whole fish tank naming thing that is going on.
