Now I know this probably makes me sound like an idiot, but the Chaos Marine codex with the termy lord on the cover, is it 4th edition or 5th, because I've seen it labled as both

There is no 5th edition Chaos Marines book. The 4th edition one, the one you are talking about, is the most recent one.

That's the 4th edition CSM book, there is no current 5th CSM book.
