Hey all!
I was wondering after having painted a few models if it could be better.
How do you all paint skaven? In talking about the previous edition clanrats and the stormvermin of the new recent version.

Btw what colours do you all use for the fur and the skin

As it stands right now i'm going for a mixed fur colour army, to give it all a more of a gutter rat feel. for skins i go anywhere from bleach bones, browns, or greys, and same goes for the fur, i do either browns, greys, or reds.

Other than the furs and skins, i'm actually heavily converting the army, because i was curious what clan i was going to do, and a lightbulb turned on and i thought "WU TANG CLAN"

So everyone is going to have jersey/robes with football numbers and whatnot, and wu tang symbols everywhere.

I think it'll be funny since i have a gothy style and no one will see it coming from me

I've recently uploaded some pics of my skaven to the gallery, I'm making a clan skryre force so all my skaven are mostly purple with a little khaki for the cloth, with grey fur (I was aiming for white, so they looked like lab mice, but they ended up coming out very grey, but I liked it enough to keep them that way) with details picked out in bronze/copper colours (for that clan skryre flair without having too much work to do on a unit of 30 expendable foot troops). Needless to say my larger and more expensive units will have much more conversion work done!

I am still waiting for my rats to show up in the mail, but my plan is to paint their furs and skin in as many natural rat colours as possible, just like real rats. My plan is to end up with every rat looking unique.

I will wish you very good luck with this! considering they are a horde army (as in, you should be looking at a minimum of 30 models in all core units!) so coming up with that many subtle variations is going to be a pain! Looking forward to seeing pics now!

Ive tried to keep them as simple as possible:

Dheneb stone, hormagaunt purple, calthan brown, tallarn flesh, ogryn flesh, leviathan, devlan mud.

Alternating models get dheneb robes and hormagaunt hoods, and vice versa, skin goes tallarn, calthan fur, then levithan wash the purple, ogryn the flesh, then devlan everything.

Metals go boltgun and badab, I can maybe do 10mins/model this way.

Lol I dont have very much paint. But this is my scheme:
Black basecoat. Fur bestial brown, flesh dwarven flesh.
Cloth scarb red. Metal boltgun metal.
Repaint flesh with elven flesh. Lightly Drybrush the fur with commando khaki or desett yellow. Thats for the lighter furs
