Do monsters in the rare section (cygor, chaos spawn, ghorgon) get any type of saves against wounds taken?
Can't seem to find it in rules.
Thanks

If it doesn't say Armor Save 4+ (or something similar) or 4+ Ward Save (again, or something similar), then no.
The monster entry will tell you if it has any. Monsters do not get any type of a save by the fact they are Monsters.

This is one of the biggest complaints about them. No, they get nothing. They have to rely on their toughness and # of wounds to keep them alive.

With high toughness not working so well against poison attacks, and with 6s automatically wounding now.
I bought a giant kit recently, more for the model than anything else I suppose, but I was sort of looking forward to trying it out. Just not sure it's worth the points; compare it to the 40 point cheaper Hell Pit Abomination and we'll just hope the next book to utilize giants does a bit more for them than the OnG book did.

Comparing anything, pointswise, to the Hell Pit Abomination is flawed because the HPA is widely regarded as FAR too cheap.

It is a copy/paste of the O&G giant now (AFAIK), aka the new standard Giant.

How does the OnG differ from the Beastmen (old OnG) version? Lower cost? Save options? Heck, any options?

Lower cost it would seem. The O&G one does also get warpaint option, but i suspect thats army specific.

Monsters are great mechanisms for getting your R&F troops across the battlefield unmolested (if you can feint your opponent into smacking it), and a great mechanism for flanking (for the wounds, the survivability, the psychological effect and the +1 CR, obviously can't disrupt).
So while they're less hardy, I consider them just as useful.
