Alright, so my friend who plays a blood angel army recently invited myself and my Fiance to play a 2v2 game against him and his friend. It'll be 3K points per player with my Fiance and I both playing chaos space marines, my friend and his partner playing BA / Tau. Now, the real problem is in the fact that all of our experience in apoc is pretty much, well, nothing. I have the books, I've read through them, I know what they can do, but I myself have 0 apoc models. On that note, my friend said any "counts as" is acceptable, as long as it looks close. Now for the real fun, does anyone here have any advise going into this apoc game? How about advise on Chaos apoc models (and how to quickly make them). We have two weeks to get ready, so plenty of time for scheming.

Don't powergame. I know there's a huge temptation in Apocalypse but don't do it. Apocalypse is supposed to be story driven, a way for you to truly embrace the themes of your particular army.

You and your friend need to sit down and discuss any rules questions before hand. Things to address are:

1. Which units score? Apoc was written in 4th where everything scored.

2. Super Heavies? How many are allowed on each side? Might seem like a dumb question, but if one side has multiple super heavies, and the other has none, then the game gets lopsided very quickly.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

Good thinking. I'll shoot him a text here real quick.

So far, it was looking like my Fiance and I were going to try out the Chaos Doomsday Device. I know it has a chance to blow up in our face, but as we're both playing a black legion theme (She is even using Abaddon) it felt fitting XD

For Apoc I agree with the poster who said the best ones were story driven - my two favorite games playing Apoc I lost, but I was playing the 'losing' side and it was fun to see how much carnage I could inflict before I went down. (my favorite was my Raven Guard in a mock up of the Dropsite Massacre - it was a bloodbath)

If you guys are going with no story concept, I'd say the big thing is exactly as jbunny noted. Sort out the Super Heavy question first off - other than that it's mostly just an amped up game of regular 40k.

Doomsday device is always fun.

I would set the terrain up so its like the CSMs have taken a city or other fortified location and are sitting pretty, exorting the Tau with the threat of the Doomsday device.

then the Blood Angels show up and launch an attack. the Tau launch one as well to rid themselves of the Chaos threat.

make it story based like that.

to make it extra flavorful, you could take a Daemon formation or 2. the Spawntide is fun.
