I was thinking that it would be cool for a race other than SM to get an additional codex any Ideas?

The meaning of victory is not merely to defeat your enemy but destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavors, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory.

Yah I was thinking a Kroot codex and/or (preferably and) a purely farsight enclave codex as additions to Tau.

Demigurgs would likely be added before any additional codexes for existing armies. Followed by a true craftworld Eldar/ corsairs. Adding a second tau book when mainline tau have languished in obscurity for so long seems unlikely. A rogue trader book would be interesting.

Books for other arms of the Imperium (Rogue Traders, Adeptus Mechanicus) would be fun, even if they could be fielded only as allies to existing Imperial forces; I'd also be glad to see some kind of 'Codex: Miscellaneous Xenos' allowing unusual races (or even non-Imperial human civilisations) to be fielded as allies, mercenaries or mind-enslaving alien overlords. Something like that (divided perhaps between two books) could probably work as a Warhammer 40,000 equivalent of Storm of Magic.

You could field an independent Rogue Trader army, that is after all how this all started. Replace SM with power armoured Humans ala SoB. Answers another post IG in PowerArmor. Use Eldar, mebbe Tau, abhumans, you know things the IoM might frown on. Can you imagine a PA IG with plasma rifles and Eldar brightlances? Fun fluffy and complicated the ultimate 40k snob army.

A mercenary book would be kind of neat. Have the kroot, the loxatl, freebolters. You could actually cheat quite easy with this codex. Just pull a bunch of models from other sides and tweak there rules.

The one I really want is Adeptus Mechanicus but a Rogue Trader/ Pirates/renegades and mercenaries could be great fun with lots nice shiny new figures.
The Book of the Astoronomican did do something very similar a long long time ago

Eldar Corsairs would be awesome, but I think Codex: Dark Eldar gives you everything you need to do a perfectly good counts-as, honestly.

If we're going to do another army, it shouldn't be a subfaction.
Give us a Hrud or a Admech book.
In all honesty, subfactions should either be contained within the core book or GW should get off its duff and give FW the full consent for events and whatnot and stop putting the screws to them so that the Codex books can cover the core of the faction and FW can do subfactions/chapters/legions/regiments/craftworlds/clanz/cadres/hive fleets/etc.
That said, without reducing the number of SM books out there, adding others would be a bad idea, at least for the core GW codex line, as they already can't update the ones they have in a timely fashion.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

If doing sub-'dexs a la the various flavors of the rainbow, I'd like to see:
Exodites
Corsairs
f'n Chaos Legions
Mebbe break out a couple of specialist Guard regiments (other than the Cadians & Catachans)

In the grim darkness of the far future, there are only rules disputes.
Ellandornia Craftworld

I would REALLY love to see: a Mechanicus codex and a Chaos Renegades codex as rumoured, but with half of the army list dedicated to mutants, cultists, outcasts, traitor guard, Chaos allied xenos and everything else under the sun, the other half of the army list dedicated to renegade Astartes that may or may not be allied or commanding these lesser outcasts.

Personally, I'd like to see something like the old "Angels of Death" combi-codex, just for the Imperial Guard, featuring two or three regiments and establishing subtle differences in units and tactica, complete with expanded history and information on their homeworlds etc.
Also, a WD-Minidex with Inquisitors and retinue + attached agents & operatives as potential allies to any existing Imperial force.

Codexes I'd like to see done as supplements to existing codexes (similar to planetstrike):
Codex Craftworlds: Variant lists and Special Characters for several crafworlds.
Codex Outcasts: Lists for Corsairs, Exodites, and a full army harlequin list.
Regiments of Renown: Variant regimental lists for the guard.
Codex Imperial Agents: Lists for Admech and other minor imperial forces (PDF could be made slightly different from guard and include Arbites)
Codex Mercenaries: Add on units usable for various armies including several minor races.
Codex Klans: Variant lists for Ork Clans.
Codex Legions: Chaos Legions.
The Damned: Basically a revised Lost and the Damned.
Now not all of these lists necessarily need a whole codex. Many would just be organization swaps with one or two special rules for flavor. If GW was more internet savvy they'd do something like Battlefront does with online intelligence briefs. THey don't even charge for them so the updating isn't all that necessary.
The alternative, is that we, as players cut one another some slack, and work to develop some of these things ourselves. There's no shortage of posts in rules development, but with the tournament scene seeming to be the focus (not saying that's good or bad) no one wants to play against non standard lists.
Since GW won't make anything of the game it's up to us to make what we want of it.
