Ive been playing through Witcher 2 after one of my gamer friends said he had to put it to easy because it was so hard. I have been playing through on normal, and while I heard that in the late game Geralt is a powerhouse that can punch holes in battle tanks, I do agree that for the beginning, it is likely the hardest game I have ever played. Ignoring the fact you can always save before every encounter and there are some awesome tactics and combos and ROOOOLLLLINNNGG (nobody mention running in circles) that can just make combat so much easier, the level of endurance and general concentration required is quite high.

Now, the hardest difficulty is two difficulties above the one I am playing on, Normal. Next up is Hard, and then theres Insane.

In Insane mode, upon death, it marks the definitive end of Geralts story. The game is already 8 - 10 hours long on normal, completely ignoring all unnecessary side quests, Restarting the entire game upon death seems like the most punishing thing in gaming Ive ever seen.

Has ANYONE done it? If so how? If not, will thou attempt? Id love to, but I dont have enough years left in my life. I mean, Im almost 18, no way do I have enough time to do it

Witcher 2 isnt that bad it is just unforgiving, if you play super cautiously it is not too bad, the difficulty is pretty much the same as one tick lower just you cant die, play it on hard until you can do so without getting wrecked and then try it.

To my knowledge the hardest game is Ninja Gaiden black the final challenge has still never been beaten on hardest difficulty, by anyone, ever.

Oh no Im not complaining! I relish the challenge, Im sick of beating games in one day Just wondering if anyone has actually done it.

Its outside the single player game, a series of challenges guilty gear style.

The last one is a horrifying multi boss fight with adds IIRC

I thought the hardest game was I want to be The Guy

I've heard something about "not being a man until you can beat Vanquish on it's hardest difficulty", but I honestly was never interested in that game. Didn't like the combat, and thought that it was kind of odd for an American Super Soldier dude to be in decidingly Samuri-esque armor.

Personally, as far as Challenging Video Games go, I CAN'T WAIT FOR DARK SOULS!

Yeah, the hardest difficulty on The Witcher 2 is probably the most punishingly difficult feature ever devised for a video game. The fact that the game can stretch past 20 hours in a single playthrough (and that I probably exceeded 100 deaths playing on normal) makes the penalty for death staggering. Even Demon's Souls, Devil May Cry, or Ninja Gaiden on their hardest respective difficulties don't come anywhere near this level of sadism (and you don't have to slog through an extensive storyline and dialogue every time you slip up).

I've yet to see anyone beat The Witcher 2 on Insane Difficulty. I've heard about people trying, but never anyone succeeding.

Vanquish, Army of Two 2, Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2 are the only games i have done on the hardest difficulty.
Vanquish and Army of Two 2 weren't on my xbox however...
RE5 was just annoying on Professional (1 hit by everything)
Lost Planet 2 was obnoxious but with a full team it was bearable...
Vanquish was bloody difficult.
Army of Two 2 was fairly easy for its hardest difficulty...

I can't even get past the first level of Ghosts'n Goblins.

I haven't played it yet but I honestly doubt it can be any harder than Catherine, or any game this generation for that matter

Heh, I think my post was a bit ambiguous. I meant I don't think any game can be harder than Catherine (bad bad english).

Ah. I thought you were talking about ghosts and goblins, my bad GnG is one of the world's hardest

It may just be me but I remember Halo 2 being really brutal on legendary, same with Gears of War. Although Halo 2 was early on in my fps days, so maybe I just lacked skills.

I originally first played Witcher 2 on its hardest difficulty, and when I got about 20 minutes in, I died by the dragons fire in the Intro missions, and I was like "Well, good it was right at the start"

And then..GAME OVER.

Playing it through now on normal, I can easily say that it is very near to impossible in beating it. I can't imagine how you can go through the entire game without dieing many times.
