What scheme do you like? Honestly, pick the one that appeals to you.

Dwarves-about 2000 points, most unpainted. Kill me now.

Yes, I play Dwarfs. Yes, I have a hoard of treasure and live in a mountain. And yes, I am shorter than nearly all of you, STOP TEASING ME!!!

If you get the Codex, which you'll need if you ever want to play a game with them, there are plenty of examples of schemes in that (at least there was in the last Codex, I haven't checked the current one). Just have a look at which one you think looks coolest and go with it. Experiment with different schemes and see what you like.

Colour schemes are really not something that's easy to help with, since they're things that people choose mainly because they like the look of them.

Half the fun of Nids is creating your own Hive fleet. Come up with a name then pick a unique scheme that appeals to you.

I'm just starting out with Nids as well... Hive fleet Thanatos is just entering the galaxy.

Could give you some nice ideas, it's an excellent tool for coming up with coherent and eye catching colours to use on units/forces.

I find doing one shade is nice of you are an Army Painter person. With tyranids I've never seen the point of NOT using AP. Unless you are a puritan painter. Or if you have a scheme that includes more than one shade.

You have to remember that you don't need to stick to the hive fleets, you could paint them red or brown for all anybody cares. Green looks nice. After all these aren't the only hive fleets out there, only the ones that have a colour scheme. For the other fleets, your imagination can run wild.

Here's a list.

I always thought Kraken was the nicest hive fleet scheme.

Happy consuming.

of the three you mentioned, I like Kraken the best
plus, you can do whatever you want with them, but if you want an official GW scheme I understand, because at least GW has tutorials on them

This site is awesome!

As for the Tyranid colors i fully agree with everyone who says to make your own. I painted up my first nid the other day (yes i'm starting them as well) and i think my colors, which aren't sampled in the book anywhere, look just as good if not better than the normal hive fleets.

I agree with some previous posts: go with a custom scheme.

Personally, I just stripped my Leviathan scheme nids and am repainting them in a bio-luminescent scheme with fluorescent colors. Haven't chosen a good name yet though, I'm thinking "Hive Fleet Luminosus" or "Immanis."

Still very undecided...

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

Out of the three Kraken looks the best IMO.

I know that the fastest way to paint a tyranids army is to use just foundations and washes.
